Thanks to your encouragement, I have been able to make a career out of music, first as a co-founding member of the everybodyfields, and now with my own band entitled conveniently for me, Jill Andrews.
Over the past 18 months playing as a solo artist I have toured the nation and met a great many of you, recorded a self-titled EP that I am very proud of, and have almost finished a brand new full length album entitled "The Mirror," which will be released in March of 2011.
The production of an album, from conception to release, is an exciting and often overwhelming task. From studio time, manufacturing, publicity, and tour support, an artist is met with several financial challenges in order to deliver their music to you, the listener.
Over the past several years, there's been a seismic shift in the music industry. Advances in technology, including the way we communicate has empowered independent artists, giving us a chance to create opportunities that were before off limits.
In the past, artists would generally have to rely on the support of label to help fund their projects. However, it's always been the fans who have dictated the failure or success of records.
After much thought and consideration, I've decided to partner with Kickstarter, with the specific goal of raising $10,000 to help fund my new release. Although the actual costs are much greater than this, I feel this is a number we can reach with the fans, friends, and family that have continue to support my music. It's just another way that my great fans can continue to contribute to my career, and in turn, I've come up with a few packages to show my appreciation.
I can't tell you how excited I am about sharing this with you. Many of you have seen me grow as an artist, performer, and a writer over the past six years and several of you are just becoming familiar with my music. Either way, this album, is my proudest moment as an artist so far. I really feel like I have written the best songs of my career for this project.
Many of the songs struck me in the spring of 2009 and were first accompanied by the chorus of baby birds chirping outside of my window and the hope of flowers growing in my garden. It is a collection of songs with love, pain, and so much hope so that you can feel the cool wind rustling the trees and the sun peeking out through the clouds.
Thanks for your support. You are the reason that I am able to keep playing music. If you would like to help me fund "The Mirror" among other musical endeavors, please choose one of the special packages that I created and forward this to your friends!
