About this project
I'm Steve, and while I was never really growing up, I was watching TV, probably more than my share. Besides enjoying the antics of Urkel, or Brandon & Brenda, the Bundys, or the Bluths, I always seemed to be studying the homes that they lived in. As unrealistic as some of the storylines were, I would always consider the setting as a real home. I hope that was a goal of the producers but many didn't try very hard to make the stock still shot of the exterior match the interior set. Some did, but I was always fascinated with whether or not the house 'worked' in the architectural sense, and was inspired enough to sketch the floorplans to find out. One of my sketches of my favorite animated family’s home later became a cad drawing, then a print that I framed. The revamped version of this will become the 1st of the series and will look like this:
The goal of this kickstarter project is to continue this study of the architecture of fictional television homes and add (3) more designs to the series and create (3) more pieces of artwork inspired by these places we know. Backers will be able to suggest which locations become the, as of now undecided, other (3) designs in the series. Almost anything is fair game as long as it was a television series home setting. Please don’t suggest the Silver Spoons mansion... well maybe I will attempt it for a “Pledge $1,750 or more” backer. You know you wanted to see where else that train went in the house.
There are great rewards for everyone, even if you don’t have much dough to spend. Starting at $2 every backer gets my gratitude and something real – not just a shout out. The jpegs or pdfs for backers of $2 or more will look like this:
The framed prints as shown farther above are high quality professional digital prints that will be matted and framed in a glass & aluminum finish frame that’s about 9” x 20”. If you’re not a television fan, I still bet you know someone who is, and hanging one of these prints on their wall will make them the envy of anyone who sees it. So be the hero that gets one of these rewards for someone, or better yet all of the rewards. Everything should be shipped by November and definitely by the holidays.
Your pledges will be spent on producing the rewards including all production costs, fulfillment and shipping. I haven’t calculated what the international shipping upcharge will be as of yet but I will as needed. I plan to do the printing and framing myself unless the volume gets overwhelming – which would be a fabulous thing. The important part is that the final products turn out as intended: a high quality, interesting, unique piece of artwork, and something that will make all backers glad they funded.
Help me make it happen. Thank you for clicking on this project and reading all the way to the bottom. If you did, that means we have the same interests and I know you will want to be a backer and you will definitely make a good suggestion for the next design.
Thanks for your support.
