I was invited to do an installation in a large space at this upcoming art fair in New York. It is my first art fair! Finally! I will occupy a large communal office space within the fair venue, filling it with my drawings, paintings, textiles, and other elements that will transform this space into what I call an Energy Field. The link takes you to my first Energy Field installation at the Tang Museum at Skidmore College in upstate NY. Energy Field 2 bears the same name because I now see these installations as a series that activate space in a specific manner. The goal is to seduce and stimulate, to enthrall and agitate, and to hypnotize and mesmerize through engaging with architecture and plain interior space. The funds I raise will offset my installation expenses.
Risks and challenges
There are no risks involved in this project, other than those that I am taking by investing time and money into an endeavor that has no guaranteed fiscal return. I am, like most other artists living in NYC, making art by any means necessary, and do so through living perpetually beyond my means.
The guaranteed rewards for me are the act of doing the work and the engagement with the NYC art community and art world at large.
The installation will happen whether I receive any funding support or not; but I am hoping to receive some support and in exchange will share the work I have made for the show.
