Making it simple to knit your own contemporary knitwear for babies and toddlers.
I am Amy Philip, Brighton based mum of three, knitwear designer and lover of all things handmade. Button and Blue is my award-winning brand of contemporary knitwear for babies and toddlers, known for its use of the finest natural fibres and for its minimal, modern and sweet designs.
I'm now launching a new adventure for Button and Blue here on Kickstarter. I would like to make my patterns available in a range of knitting kits. Each kit comes with everything you need from start to finish to make your own contemporary knitwear for the little people in your life. The knitting patterns are accompanied by online video tutorials making them perfect for a complete beginner, or just about anyone who loves knitting for babies and toddlers.
This next chapter for Button and Blue begins during British Wool Week as I’m passionate about finding the best natural fibres for little ones. My kits contain 100% merino wool, chosen because it’s beautiful soft, non-irritating for sensitive baby skin, insulating and breathable helping to regulate body temperature and it is machine washable.
Without further ado, let me introduce you to my first collection of kits;
The Winter Collection
Each kit comes in a project bag (25x35cm) and includes:
- one pattern booklet covering all sizes (0-6M, 6-12M, 1-2Y and 2-3Y)
- 100% merino wool
- 4mm bamboo needles
- 3.25mm bamboo needles
- tapestry needle
- coconut shell buttons (for cardigan kit)
- access to online video tutorials of techniques used
Button and Blue Award and Features
Mitten and hat kits will be ready to post at the beginning of December making them a perfect Christmas gift and the cardigan kit will be ready early 2018. Design choices can be made once the campaign ends.
My first collection of kits are almost ready to go, however there's only so far my personal savings can take me. I now need to buy the items needed and produce the kits. I would also like to release future collections (I've got a notebook full of ideas!). In order to do this I need to do a big preorder here on Kickstarter. By pledging you are preordering a kit(s) and once the campaign ends the kits can be produced and then popped in the post. Look out for the EARLY BIRD pledges for kit prices exclusive to this Kickstarter campaign. There are wholesale options too and three Kickstarter supporters have the opportunity to name the mitten patterns!
Thank you so much for supporting my campaign and making this new adventure possible!
Risks and challenges
The knitting pattern for the mittens is written and ready to go and the pattern for the beanies is in progress but will be written ready for delivery in time for Christmas. I've allowed plenty of time to write the cardigan pattern which will be ready for March. There could be timing issues outside of my control such as delivery of the merino wool or needles. However, I will be ordering these as soon as possible to make sure that I can deliver the kits on time.
To ensure the knitting patterns are easy to read and free from mistakes, I will be getting the patterns tested.
