London is flooded with unsolvable crimes. Play as Holmes, Watson, Mycroft, Irene Adler, Inspector Lestrade and Mrs. Hudson to trace them back to the nefarious Professor Moriarty. But be careful! Moriarty is ruthless and brilliant, and unless you’re very, very careful you will find yourself caught in Moriarty’s Web.

A cooperative crime-solving game played on a board of moving tiles. 3-6 players. Ages 10 and up. Plays in 20-45 minutes

HOW TO PLAY

"Found object" game pieces from Moriarty's Web (Deluxe Version)

THE WICKED PROFESSOR MORIARTY

MR. SHERLOCK HOLMES

Moves an unlimited number of times per turn. (Not just twice.)
Moves an unlimited number of times per turn. (Not just twice.)

The world’s only one and only consulting detective. He notices everything, makes a thousand connections a minute, and uses his amazing deductive logic to solve any crimes too difficult (or too strange) for the police. Plays the violin and does cocaine when not on the job.

DOCTOR JOHN WATSON

Protects two tiles by himself. At the end of his turn, he straddles two adjacent tiles with his playing piece, and Moriarty is unable to steal either one.

A fine chap to have at your back (or protecting a principal witness.) The good doctor is loyal to a fault, can put a bullet between a scoundrel’s eyes at twenty paces, and bring you out of a swooning fit with some of his medicinal brandy. He is, of course, a favorite of the ladies.

MISS IRENE ADLER

Peeks at the top tile in every stack before deciding which one to pick.
Peeks at the top tile in every stack before deciding which one to pick.

The clever American opera-singer with a mastery of disguise and a menagerie of interesting, powerful friends. Let us simply say that she has a way of getting people to show her those sorts of clues which would more prudently remain hidden. Occasionally, indulges in a spot of blackmail.

 MR. MYCROFT HOLMES

Draws Moriarty cards at the beginning of his turn, but plays them at the end. If Mycroft solves any crimes during his turn, he can disregard the Moriarty cards those crimes would have required.

More brilliant than his brother, but less inclined to go digging though sewage for clues. Depending on whom is asked, Mycroft Holmes is a spymaster, a minor governmental auditor, the British Government incarnate, or actually omniscient. Has a knack for knowing what is about to happen.

INSPECTOR LESTRADE

Can use his movement to hop to any tile in play, whether or not it is connected to the tile he started on. This includes orphans and the Moriarty tile.

Head of London’s Scotland Yard. Practical, patient and dedicated – with the resources of the police behind him. The Inspector cuffs the culprit, stumbles onto the right clue, and pulls Sherlock Holmes out of the fire fairly regularly. (He cannot truly be blamed for thinking it was the gypsies, not of the trained climbing snake.)

MRS. HUDSON

Can borrow the power of any other character that happens to be playing. All she has to do is announce who she wants to be at the start of her turn.

Holmes and Watson’s landlady, tasked with making sure her boys keep body and soul together. Stable, trustworthy, and never once making a fuss about disreputable visitors or indoor target practice, Mrs. Hudson makes those around her more effective and powerful. She should never be underestimated.

ABOUT US

MR. JIM KEIFER, holder of 18 patents, invented his first game “Thunder Road” when he was 21. After a long period spent heading the board-game divisions of such well-known establishments as Mattel and Spinmaster, he decided his talents would be better served as a game inventor and ‘consulting game designer’ (for want of a better term). You can find his recent inventions “Rotten Apples,” “All In” and “Fish & Chips” at Barnes & Noble, Target, Toys R Us and Walmart. Keep an attentive out eye out for such games as  “Doink!,” “Rubik’s Battle,” “Fishing for Words” and “Kiss My Bass" to be appearing on shelves shortley. Also relevant is the somehow "online" game “Picturiffic,” soon to be something called an "App." http://www.jimkeifer.com/   http://www.jimkeifer.com/https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgamedesigner/10706/jim-keifer

MISS LUCY KEIFER, a recent graduate of New York’s Sarah Lawrence College, seems naturally evolved for the invention of board games in a way that might interest Mr. Darwin. A woman of a regrettably scholarly bent, she has published three articles about Mr. Holmes and written indexes for such acclaimed wordsmiths as Mr. Neil Gaiman and Mrs. Cornelia Funke. On her own time she enjoys translating Anglo-Saxon poetry and studying the occult.

MISS EMILY KEIFER attends the prestigious University of Southern California, where she studies potential applications of the Lumière brothers’ strange “moving pictures” device. In the event that this invention proves a mere novelty, she has simultaneously embarked on a professional illustration career. Her extensive portfolio may be viewed by accessing https://emilyannemcgillicuddykeifer.com/. Miss Keifer is recently back from Paris, where she has been studying the works of the great masters.

MS KATHLEEN KEIFER is known across the world for her attractive seascapes, collected by famous and infamous alike. Her entrepreneurial spirit, marketing acumen and unexpected problem solving notions (derived no doubt from her Irish heritage) make her a true boon to any endeavor. One of her charming pictures could be yours, by visiting her premises at http://kathleenkeifer.com/.

MISS CLAIRE KEIFER currently attends the Eugene Lang College in New York City. For some strange reason, she studies such things as “media” “culture” “advertising,” and some strange application of Mr. Babbage’s Difference Machine known as “coding.” All these things together have been instrumental in getting our humble project out to see the light of day.

Risks and challenges

We have the benefit of Jim Keifer's thirty years in the board game industry, so we really, really know what we are doing. The only thing left is actually pushing the button on manufacturing, which we will do the second this Kickstarter is funded. This is a very sure thing, we have done everything that needs to be done, and we hope you will treat supporting our Kickstarter Campaign as a pre-order.

Longshore Limited in Hong Kong is doing our manufacturing, and Fulfillrite in New Jersey is doing our fulfillment.
