I still carry mine in the wallet but I have maybe used it once or twice outside of the bottle opener. My text is still clear as day.

@scott munoz TSA snagged yours? I would have argued it becasue I've flown with mine at least 6 times and have never had an issue.

    2. Scott Munoz on April 27, 2015

Kinda bummed - TSA snagged mine last week. If I wasn't running late for my flight, I could have returned it to my car. Usually I play it safe and pack in checked baggage, but forgot this time.

    3. Smashmode - Bring Back MST3K on November 19, 2014

I know this is a year late, but I use the bottle opener the most, also use the little cutting (Letter opener?) feature. I've used the little monkey head as a small 'pry' tool as well. Even the little screwdriver heads has been used. :) great tool and honestly perhaps my most utilized kickstarter project.

    4. Kick No Mo on February 21, 2014

Still using my but the text on it is wearing off. I use the bottle opener most lol

    5. Eyeis on February 21, 2014

Pocket monkey is still holding up great after 1 year

    6. Nate Barr 7-time creator on December 22, 2013

@SuperD Thanks man! Glad to hear it :) What features do you find most useful? Any features that could be improved?

    7. Smashmode - Bring Back MST3K on December 19, 2013

Just wanted to say I use the pocket monkey almost daily.

    8. Michael on November 20, 2013

I still prefer the monkey over that new project.

    9. Nate Barr 7-time creator on November 14, 2013

@Celia_Poelhs Great idea! Thanks for sharing. You can also post ideas on our facebook page!

@Eyeis Yeah...I think you are right. Interesting as well that the design seems to have a "tail" cutout, yet, by name, it's supposedly a gorilla. Perhaps they started the design as a monkey knockoff and then changed the name last minute?

I found a new use for my pocket monkey. Several weeks ago I purchased some wooden shelf kits at IKEA. They were held together with those weird plasticky straps. the blade/door opener came in real handy to pull through the glue so i could get them in my car. Love my pocket monkey!

I still have not received my pocket monkey. Is kickstarter this difficult to use?

    12. Michael on August 19, 2013

I have been on 6 flights now and I've only been stopped by the TSA once. The guy was more curious than anything and let me go about my way.

Found another use for my pocket monkey today. The envelope blade workers well to separate packing straps like those holding together pieces of ikea furniture. I needed to separate wood pieces to fit in my car.

The Pocket Monkey was perfect for turning the screw on the Furby's battery compartment. No need to spend my time looking for the tool box. :)

    16. Michael on July 30, 2013

The micro phillips worked quite well in the situation I put it to.

    17. Ben on July 17, 2013

Wohoo wallet found monkey still onboard :)

    18. Ben on July 13, 2013

True story - I just used the Pocket Monkey to help a colleague who got himself locked in a room. He and some others just ordered 5 more with the Father's Day discount. :-)

About airport security: I went through once leaving it in my wallet and that caused a bit of a sensation. Since then I take it out and there has been no problem.

It is an attractive object, but I have not found it very useful. The letter opener just mangles the envelopes.

    25. Richard Han on May 29, 2013

i just get my monkey today i was wonderful

    26. Jess Zimbabwe on May 23, 2013

Hi there. Still haven't received it. Same address is correct. The form wouldn't allow me to submit without completing every item. (I'm not sure why as other Kickstarter forms don't require that, and plenty of people don't have two-line addresses.) So, I guess we'll see?

    27. Brendan on May 4, 2013

Sad that the main feature I was looking for (the kickstand) can't support the weight of my phone! The smallest screwdriver is also VERY difficult to use. Good first run, but room for improvement.

I've had nothing but a good experience with my pocket monkey. Great project.

      on April 15, 2013

Well, it is somewhat nifty looking, but over all... lame. Nice and strong though!

The kickstand is completely worthless. The Phillips driver did not work on two separate occasions. The letter opener makes a mess. Oh well.

    30. Kick No Mo on April 14, 2013

Just want to say I love my Pocket Monkey! I find myself using all the time for it's may uses! Thanks again!

    31. Joe Yontz on April 11, 2013

No problems with TSA flying out off Baltimore MD and McAllen TX!

    32. Marina Regalado on April 11, 2013

I still haven't received mine!! I thought they were going out at the end of January!?

    33. Vihang Mehta on April 4, 2013

Still haven't received my pocket monkey in San Francisco, CA. A few other friends of mine did get theirs. :(

    34. Jacob Tothe on March 31, 2013

Finally had a chance to really test out the bottle opener feature. It worked fine, no damage to the tool. Chicks dig its style too.

Just back from an overseas trip. The local airport had no questions. The foreign airport singled out the Pocket Monkey for a thorough check on sharp edges and passed without further questions. :)

Single most used function for me - letter opener.

It's effectiveness as a phone stand seems to depend on the rigidity of the card used. Most cards work fine.

    36. Jason Chong on March 25, 2013

Hey Nate, it arrived this morning in Singapore. Thanks! Looks and feels great. (except for some scratches on the back but no worries)

    37. Nate Barr 7-time creator on March 25, 2013

@Jess Zimbabwe Yours should have arrived a while ago. I looked in our database and found your address with "Shipping Address2": "n/a but required to submit form", so I'm guessing it didn't make it to you and USPS is just being really slow to return it to sender. Is that address correct? I can resend.

    38. Kick No Mo on March 25, 2013

      Thanks for the feedback Daniel!

    39. Daniel Lieber on March 24, 2013

I've taken my Pocket Monkey through airport security (and other security inspections) successfully on several trips now and have found it very useful. This week, I was able to use it onboard the plane to repair my watch. It was very cool to get that done successfully at 30,000 feet with the only tool being the Monkey.

Thus far, I am very impressed.

    40. Fabian on March 23, 2013

      Just got mine today!
Passed through hotel security and other stuff. Yet to see if I can fly with it!

Gold Coast, Australia. Got an email ~10 days ago with the tracking number and just received my Pocket Monkey today; looks awesome! Thanks for a great product, but in the future, more communication is imperative.

    42. Kick No Mo on March 22, 2013

Anyone here go through an airport with this yet? Any issues?

    43. Kick No Mo on March 21, 2013

Melbourne Australia here, got mine in the mail today! Thanks for following through on your commitment Nate! Good to hear you are catching up on messaging people back as well. I understand that life can get in the way but with Kickstarter communication is key, even letting people know that life is getting in the way and you will get to responding to people in time would have been appreciated! Thanks for a great product!

Phew! Finally catching my breath here! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for your great encouragement posted here. Sorry for the lack of communication. I've been totally swamped with my day job which had a project I championed green-lit just as fulfillment hit full stride (I'm a little too ambitious for my own good sometimes). I also burned through the goodwill of my friends for packing help early on ;) We've shipped nearly 3,000 orders now! Woohoo! All Kickstarter orders have been shipped and there are a few early backers whose monkeys apparently ran off to join the circus while enroute, which we have also resolved. If you have not received yours from the International Backer group, it will most likely arrive within the next week. I have also caught up on emails. I spent 20 hours over the last two weeks to finally conquer the inbox! For those who are curious, the manufacturer also found that the laser etching was an unexpected bottleneck. They were only able to process 10 to 20 per hour! I'll post an update soon with some more info about PocketMonkey recent news!
