First update — Stretch Goals and Chucklefish Games

What an amazing first day! Never in my life did I imagine we'd receive the generous support and excitement we've gotten from you guys. I honestly launched the campaign expecting we'd have a very rough time even getting past the first half of the goal, and I'm completely bewildered by how things have played out—completely beyond-words grateful to you.

I want to address some of the pressing questions that we’ve seen asked many times during this first day:

Will Heart Forth, Alicia be coming to other platforms? 

If we get the funding we need to carry the ports out, absolutely!

The figure we established for the campaign goal was based on a minimal budget that would let us finish the game in a timely manner and without compromise, along with fulfilling our obligations to backers. We figured that if we included things that weren’t completely indispensable, we risked not reaching the Kickstarter goal and not getting funded.

Other than that, we didn’t open the campaign with stretch-goals set for a few reasons. First of all, we’re still working out specifics with the awesome people at Chucklefish Games, working on a budget with the two coding geniuses that we’d hire to do the porting to OSX/Linux, and the details of getting the game on specific consoles and handhelds. Secondly, not by a chance did we expect to be this far so early, and just didn’t want to get ahead of ourselves. Finally, we wanted confirmation from the backers that console and handheld ports are something that they wanted before we locked ourselves into delivering them by revealing our stretch goals.

What’s the deal with you guys and Chucklefish?

Chucklefish Games are a group of talented people helping us with our business responsibilities, marketing, distribution, and although they will not be providing Heart Forth, Alicia with funding at any point, they are opening up the doors for console porting. They’re very nice people, too, and working together has been really smooth because they completely understand the development process of a game.

I hope this has answered some of your questions! We’re going to cover more specific details in future updates and hopefully fill you in. I can’t express my gratitude enough for believing in this project.

Please help us spread the word so that we’re able to take the game to OSX, Linux, consoles, and handhelds. We’ve seen a huge number of people today express interest in playing the game on places other than PC, and we definitely want to bring the game to their favourite platform.

      I'd really like to see it come to macs/ the iOS marketplace. Or if you guys could get it developed on the xbl market place, that would be sick.

      Sin duda es un juego perfecto para la Vita, mi soporte favorito para los indies, pero también me parecería bien jugarlo en OSX. Limitar este juego a Windows sería una lástima, tiene potencial para mucho más.

      It seems all the comments made below by other backers have covered all I would say.

      If a port to other platforms (console and/or handheld) is possible, I'd gladly contribute more for the effort!

      One thing I DO want to say is "congrats! This is going to be an AMAZING game if the video is any indication". You've really hit on something here, especially with such a diverse set of games you mentioned influencing this one (Xenogears still has my favourite story, bar none).

      I'd love a Vita port. If you do Cross-Buy for all platforms I'm increasing my pledge.

      The Vita would be the perfect platform for a game like this. I'll increase my pledge if we can secure a Vita port! :D

      I pledged 40$ and shared it on Facebook! I feel this game deserves to exist and what you've shown us has left me speechless already. Plus, Talebook :D. I'm really excited for this and it's become quite obvious you're going to get the funding you need and then some ($59,858 pledged of $60,000 goal at the time of writing this comment).

      If you do get around to releasing the game on different consoles, would it be possible to get a copy on my choice of console (would very much like it on PS Vita) rather than Steam? Not that this would affect my pledge, but given the choice, I would much rather play it on a portable device if possible.

      I too would prefer a PS4 version but will be happy with a Vita version :) congratulations on getting so far early on. Awesome game :) i plan to up my pledge as stretch goals are revealed....

      I actually heard about it from a random Facebook advert, I never normally pay attention to Facebook adverts because they normally have elves with big... features and stupid headings like 'find out why your friends want this game banned'. The art of Heart Forth, Alicia stood out from the crowd and intrigued me so I decided to find out more. The more I found out, the greater the game looked.

      I don't normally support Kickstarters, but this game was an exception and your funding goal was only small, so I decided to support it. I'm excited for all of the rewards. If you do consider other consoles, I reckon it will be popular on Wii U given that it was inspired by many Nintendo games and I could easily convince my friends to buy it. Good luck with the rest of development, I'm sure it'll be great.

      Personally, I would love to see this game on the Wii U (the only platform who let you choose between the big screen and the handheld one), and on Linux (when the Steam machines will be ready).

      Also good luck, I just hope the "console add-on" will be include in the $15 tier ;)

      With all due respect, sir.

      You've just started a kickstarted for a beautiful lookling metroidvania type game. A game in a genre that is higly viewed by lots of gamers worldwide, a genre that is currently completely starving its players with its lack of new titles.

      How could you think for a second that it would not be met with success ?
      Please do get some good people to work along your talent, and finish what already looks to be a very good game.

      Lots of players, me included, will be cheering on you :3

      My goodness. I backed this within the first hour of it showing up on Kickstarter hadn't checked in since. I saw this update in my e-mail and popped by the site and couldn't believe how far the project has gone already. Unbelievable stuff; super glad for you guys.

      As far as ports go, I'd really like to see this game get Mac/Linux love. Having the PC trifecta when being on Steam can be a huge draw to many. While I can easily play the game in Windows, it sure would be nice to have a Mac OS X port with controller support so I don't have to be fiddling around with restarting my computer.

      As others have mentioned, while migrating to console platforms – although perhaps something like the PS Vita would be the best "console" fit – I'd be happy with stretch goals primarily focusing on improving & polishing existing game components.

      Congratulations on the success so far! I look forward to hearing more updates as time goes on.

      I went to bed with $1200 in backings and less than 24 hours it's at almost $50k? Wow.

      I'm in agreement with Jimmy. Stretch goals to enhance the game itself should come before console porting, because not everyone has a current gen console as they're so expensive.

      If it's in the cards I think a Wii U port would be good as well. However, if you do make a Wii U port, PLEASE make the game support sound with remote play. There are some games for the Wii U that for some reason do not have any sound coming through the controller when you're playing it on the screen with remote play. I'm guessing it's pure laziness on the developer's part.

      This game would look beautiful on the PS vita too.. I would love to buy it on any of the consoles out now - prefer PS4 but I'll take any of them!! :)

      I prefer that stretch goals take priority on enhancing the gameplay/story/design/soundtrack(orchestrated if possible) first then be porting onto consoles.

      First kickstarter backed and I'm very excited. Would love to play this as a PSN download but I'm thrilled with PC if those are the results!

      Bring this baby to the Nintendo Wii U!!! I want to play this badly on the Wii U GamePad the most cause that would be relaxing as hell while playing this game. Now let's make some noise!
