"‘Chintamani’ is a truly unique film that all of us are excited to make. It’s not just another horror film with a creepy child, it’s a horror film told from the child’s point of view; where the demon isn’t as scary as life at home and lives are on the line. Not only is the film able to relate to many families in the world, the themes of trust and betrayal is something that will hit home with people of all ages and backgrounds. It may seem like we are doing ‘another student project’ to some but this is a dream come true for us- directing and producing our very own film and we can’t wait to begin and take you on the journey with us." -Sujata Kirby

Chintamani tells the tale of a demon who steals the souls of young children in order to survive, using nursery rhymes to trick children into the darkness. Our story follows young Amoria, an innocent young girl in a destructive environment, who places her trust in the one person who promises her happiness. What will happen when her trust is betrayed?

Sarah
Sarah is a young, stay at home mother. She has been married to her husband, John for 13 years and they had been high school sweethearts. Three years ago, Sarah suffered a miscarriage and this caused her to fall into a spiral of depression, distancing herself from her husband. At this time, her husband shared a kiss with a woman at work and Sarah found out about it, causing her depression to manifest into paranoia. The film shows Sarah and her husband fighting due to their distrust- Sarah thinks that John might be cheating on her again as he is staying late at work.

John
John is a hardworking solicitor who loves his family more than anything in the world. However, several years ago his wife suffered a miscarriage and at this time his attempts to comfort Sarah were met with silence. Unable to comfort her or grieve for the child he lost, he found himself growing closer to a work colleague who offered him affection which he wasn’t receiving at home. John had a moment of weakness and shared a kiss with this coworker. He immediately felt guilty and told his wife who now does not trust him when he works late, or believe that he loves her at all anymore, causing a lot of arguments between them.

Chintamani
Chintamani is a demon that preys on the weak and steals their souls. He was once cursed into a stone, hundreds of years ago, but when the stone was removed from its sacred holding spot by a hapless museum curator, Chintamani was released. He has kept himself alive by preying on children in unhappy households and using their innocence and curiosity to his advantage.

Amoria
Amoria was a happy young girl who lived a perfect life with her two loving parents. When her mother suffered a miscarriage, their world fell apart. Where there was once laughter and love, there is now fighting and anger. The once outgoing little girl now seeks refuge from the fighting in her den, seeking comfort from an old book of nursery rhymes.

In her spare time, Sujata enjoys spending time at home with her family and variety of pets"
