Yes you read correct, a Dillenger Electric Bike for UNDER $400AUD...
Electric bikes are a fantastic invention. They are a fun, healthy and environmentally friendly solution for our transportation problems, they are a great way to interact with world around you and they are a lot of fun!!
There's just one problem - cost.
The average price for an electric bike is in excess of $1,700 AUD (approx. £900 or $1,400 USD) making it sometimes more expensive than buying a second hand car!
We now know that there are better, more cost-effective ways of producing electric bikes whilst still maintaining the same great features and a quality that our customers deserve.
That's where the Dillenger Cheetah is set to change everything. We've invested in new design and production techniques that allow us to produce the Cheetah and deliver it to our customers at a price point that blows the competition out of the water! (and maybe onto a Cheetah!)
Before this model is priced for retail distribution, we're going to offer this at early bird prices never before imagined for a product like this.
We appreciate your support in any way. This project is our way of helping with congestion, pollution and the very real energy crisis. Electric bikes are without a doubt the way of the future and now we're making them affordable!
We've already organised shipping arrangements to deliver the Cheetahs to anywhere in the world, with the first available production scheduled for delivery in February 2015, with the second production due to be delivered later the following month.

About our manufacturing techniques:
The most time-consuming part of producing an electric bike (or any bicycle) is assembly. Whilst this can be achieved for a reasonable price in countries where the labor is affordable, there is still a high cost of assembly in comparison to the raw materials and components required.
For years nothing has changed to make these products easier to assemble. Dillenger has developed a 'straight line process' for the design, manufacturing and assembly of the Dillenger Cheetah. Often designers won't have the manufacturing process in mind when they are designing. That's where our team is different. Our head engineers both have experience as machinists and fabricators. Together with these formal qualification, we also have the added benefit of being an electric bike company for 7 years. If you put all of these together, the design of new e-bikes is such that the products are much 'easier' to manufacturer and build and required less tinkering and fine adjustment. This reduces our costs significantly and improves quality control. It seems like an obvious progression, but it's hard going to change an industry that is so established and set in their ways!
To a certain degree we've taking the annoying parts of the bicycle manufacturing process and replaced that with new techniques that make sense to us from a design, manufacturing and assembly point of view.
Without boring everyone to death (and divulging trade secrets) we can broadly summarize the advancements as: automation not before used in producing bicycles. Pneumatic controlled jigs, Robot MIG welding and precision controlled hydraulics are all used on the same production line to turn raw materials into highly finished parts that are built to be easily assembled without the need for fine (and costly) adjustments on the assembly line.
We're looking to expand the range in 2015 and we're stoked at how great the Cheetah turned out. We hope you like it too!
