A classic line of wallets inspired by American craftsmanship. Built to last for a lifetime, handcrafted and burnished for a refined wallet any man will love.
I always loved walking around in this old western store here in Ogden and looking at the western tack and saddlery. I don’t even have horses but the way the leather felt and looked really spoke to me.
The process and the craft hasn’t changed over hundreds of years, I felt a real sense of nostalgia. I wanted to create that same feeling in a wallet. Something that you carry everyday that sends you back to a simpler time, an old world perspective when people only bought things that really mattered and would last a long time.
We set out to create the ultimate wallet to keep men’s most essential belongings safe. A no-compromises wallet that will stay with you for a lifetime. A wallet you can be proud of.
All men carry a wallet, so it might as well be something with substantial quality and value. This wallet looks and functions as a classic weathered wallet should-- effortlessly and with a rugged, classic American style.
Don’t be afraid to get rough with our new Stock and Barrel Wallet. 100% made in America and hand-stitched from the best natural vegetable tanned leather, we guarantee this wallet will last you for years to come.
There are many ways manufacturers cut corners and misrepresent their products regarding leather. At Stock and Barrel, we don't cut corners on the leather.
All our products are made from very thick 3oz. vegetable-tanned full-grain harness leather. It is the best, strongest part of the hide.
- Vegetable, which uses vegetable-derived tannins from sources such as oak bark and takes about 60 days to process.
- Chrome/oil tanned which uses really nasty carcinogenic and earth-killing chemicals, that only takes one to two days to make.
Aside from wanting to leave a better, healthier planet for our children, we use only vegetable-tanned leather because of the beautiful way it looks and ages.
Over a lifetime of use it will continue to darken and develop a beautiful and unique patina that the cheaper chrome-tanned leather never will.
It has great durability and strength and with care can last several lifetimes.
A wallet is only as strong as it’s weakest stitch. Which is why we’ve gone to great lengths to make sure we’re using the toughest thread out there. We use .040” inch WAXED polyester cord made in house by a brick and mortar business called The Maine Thread Company in Lewiston, Maine.
We use a stitching method that stands the test of time, called the saddle stitch. In this stitch, the friction causes the wax on our polyester thread to melt and seals the stitch in it's place completely.
This company and it’s success means everything to our little family. We’ve poured our hearts into the brand and products and we’re ready to take our business to the next level. With your support, we’ll be able to invest in the much needed production equipment like; industrial stitching machines, clicker press, burnisher, splitter, etc…) that will not only improve our efficiency, but also allow us to create higher quality products.
If the funding goes well beyond our expectations we’ll able to move our operation to a bigger space and one with a possible retail front. We would love to be able to sell our products in person and create more personal relationships with our customers.
We're a family who breaks the mold of a traditional 9-5 work life, yet we're consumed in the art of a highly traditional craft of making quality leather goods. Stock and Barrel Co began in 2012 and has not only been a creative outlet for us, but has consistently been a source of ups, downs, cuts, calluses, tears and laughs. Many of our recent life milestones occurred right here in our workshop in Ogden, Utah. We've poured our heart and soul into this business and we take pride in each carefully crafted product.

Risks and challenges
Anytime you purchase high quality, handcrafted products, it comes with a caveat, you have to be patient. We all want instant gratification AND high quality well made products, unfortunately you can’t have both. Good things take time. However, as mentioned above, we’re partnering with a highly efficient leather goods manufacturer that will be CRUCIAL to this campaign. They’re going to make it possible for us to produce quality wallets AND a timely fulfillment.
Also, we have to take into consideration that the tannery we order our leather from told us to expect 8 weeks from the time we place our order. However, if it takes longer than 8 weeks, it is unfortunately out of our control. So it is a risk we have to take. However we can all take comfort in knowing that Wickett and Craig (our leather supplier) has been around since 1867 and is one the TOP tanneries in the U.S. and has always taken good care of their customers.
Leather Color: One thing that has always been a challenge for our business is the inconsistency of leather color. Every time we get an order in, the color is almost always a little darker, or a little lighter in color than the last. So keep that in mind when you receive your wallet. If it’s not the EXACT color that you’ve seen in pictures or videos, unfortunately it’s just the nature of the beast. But it also makes your product incredibly unique.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
