Bio - Gameplay Video
The best thing about Rebirth is the fact that it is so easy to play! The main thing you need to know is that all the stages employ the same mechanic, pick a card from the deck, decide weather you want to keep it or not, and then discard a card, that's it!! That being said, the strategy element goes a lot deeper.
Rebirth is a tabletop card game to be enjoyed by ages 10+.
Our aim is to deliver a fun, educational and engaging experience to players by using the mediums of a four player tabletop card game combined with an app.
It explores the concept of a near Holocene extinction, our species seeking refuge among the stars and mankind's last hope to save the human race by terraforming Mars.
In addition to a deep/engaging story line our game aims to offer factual and educational insights into topics such as space exploration and technology(Orion spacecraft components) and life on Earth, from microscopic organisms like algae and plankton to the largest animal that has ever lived on our planet, the blue whale.
We want everyone to play this game and explore the link between life on Earth, no matter how small, and the vast expanse of the cosmos and the stars and planets within it.
We believe Rebirth has something unique to offer the world by combining one of its oldest gaming platforms with one of its newest.

All of us here at Rebirth feel that it is time for a big push to get the wonders of space exploration back in the minds of the masses and we want to bring as many people as possible on this journey with us....beginning with you, our backers!
The main requirement of our pledge is to secure a minimum order of Rebirth from the manufacturer. It will also be used for monthly website hosting costs to continue sales of Rebirth along with further app development costs to add new expansions and difficulties to Rebirth. Our aim going forward is to start up a game design studio and get to work on a board game sequel to Rebirth set on Mars that integrates the use of an app even more. Currently within our team we have the ability to create high quality virtual 3D models and would require the use of a 3D printer for building models of alien life/spacecrafts/habitats for the sequel prototype. We hope to possibly use some of our pledge for this purpose also.
Overview: Earth was abandoned due to a nuclear war breakout. The remaining survivors will eventually need to return to her to extract DNA samples in the hope of rebuilding a new Earth on Mars.
Four astronauts will brave this journey but only one will return.
Genre: Educational, Space, SciFi, Survival thriller.
The game will consist of three rounds which will represent three stages of the astronaut's journey. It will be accompanied by a "Mission control" app which will be downloadable from the app store. The app is designed to be placed in the middle of the table and will include a timer to count down each round, a video relative to the specific round and sounds/ambient music including Atlas launch checks, satellite beeps, exploding stars etc.
The Life Deck
Important:The Life deck is used in stage 3 of Rebirth and is included as part of the game. It can also function just like a traditional deck of playing cards and is offered as an individual reward in some pledge tiers.
The life deck consists of four suits, Marine life/Animals and Birds/Insects/Plants and Trees
How to play Rebirth:
Duration : 20 minutes
Decks x 2 (Flight Deck and Lunar Deck)
Players x 4
Cards in hand x 5
This stage is the screening process used by “The Corporations” to ensure only the best team of Astronauts is selected for this vital mission.
Environment: Mega Space Station in orbit around the sun.
Primary objective: In this round the four potential astronauts will need to work together to gather 13 or more spacecraft parts before the Mission Control timer runs out.
Secondary objective: Store fuel in uplink.
The timer here is the countdown to mission launch.
The round is over when either the timer or the deck has run out.
Mechanic:The Flight deck consists of Spacecraft Parts, different value Fuel Cores and "pick a Moon card" card's.
The Lunar deck consists of "Moon" cards that alter the mechanic in this stage.
Players will be picking and dropping cards from the space craft deck and must balance their hand to have the best outcome for both themselves and the team when the timer has ended. How the objective is reached is decided by the players and how well they can work together.
At the end of the round all players must show their hand, their must be an accumulative total of 13 or more spacecraft parts in order to progress to the next stage.
All fuel cards held by each player at the end of this stage are tallied up and written in the scribble box on the back of his/her assigned corporation card.(this total is carried to the next stage and added to their stage 2 total)
Note : The Flight Deck contains 18 ship parts in total. Some Lunar Deck cards can deplete this amount so it is important that players communicate and work together to progress to the next stage.
Duration: 30 minutes
Decks x 3 (DNA Deck, Solar Deck and Corporation Deck)
Players x 4
Cards in hand x 5
Environment: Earth surface
Primary objective: The newly appointed astronauts have been approached by various corporations with different visions of what new Mars will be. The mission on Earth has begun and the astronauts need to extract clean DNA samples for their assigned corporations. They will need to focus on themselves and be more ruthless as only two will survive this round.
Secondary objective: Store fuel in uplink. The timer here is the depletion of oxygen. The round is over when either the timer or deck has run out.
Mechanic: The DNA deck consists of DNA cards(ranging in value from 1 to 52), different value Fuel Cell's and "pick a Sun card" card's.
The Solar Deck alters the mechanic here.
Each player picks one corporation card which they will refer to(secretly) throughout this stage.
Players will be picking and dropping from the DNA deck and need to strategically form their hand to make the DNA sample matches that will earn maximum points for their corporation.
The dynamic has changed here dramatically as the the team has been divided and the players are now working for different corporations.
At the end of this stage each player will tally up their individual totals. The two players with the top two scores will make it into the final stage and come one step closer to to realizing their corporations vision for Mars.
Note: Hitting your corporation's primary multipliers is key to outscoring your opponents. Fuel is more scarce in this round but much more valuable.
Duration: 15 minutes
Decks x 3 (Life Deck, Pale Blue Deck and the Uranium Deck)
Players x 2 Cards in hand x 3
Environment: Exploration spacecraft returning to Mega Space Station.Primary objective: Store Fuel.
The timer here is the depletion of fuel.
The round is over when the timer has run out.
Mechanic: The Life deck consists of 4 suits, each suit representing a different branch on the tree of life(ranging in value from 2 to 11) and "pick an Earth card" cards.
The Pale Blue Deck consists of "Earth" cards that alter the mechanic.
This is the fast paced stage where the players are racing home and trying to gather Uranium and deposit it along the way.
They will take turns picking from the "Life" deck and try form correct sequences to allow them to deposit their "Uranium" card.
For the two players that did not make it to the final stage, all is not lost, they can still play a card from the Pale blue deck on one of the remaining players....so be nice!
The player that deposits the most fuel will make it home !
We are stringently play-testing and constantly applying tweaks and alterations to deliver the best mechanic possible.
The Life Deck contd.
The Prototype contd.
Risks and challenges
The team have taken all the necessary steps to make the production of Rebirth as simple as possible without holding back on functionality or quality. We have sourced the most reputable manufacturer available and have discussed all possible design issues, lead times etc.
At its core Rebirth is a card game so we do not foresee any delays in this area.
The Mission Control app is currently being developed and will be available to download from the app store when the first games are shipped.
All of us at the Rebirth team have made many sacrifices and devoted many hours to getting Rebirth to this point and it is our promise to every backer that we will deliver the best product to them on time and keep them informed and involved throughout the entire process.
When this campaign has finished and all the backers have been rewarded, our next mission is to create an already conceptualized board game sequel to Rebirth.
