The Animazombs are a horde of misunderstood, clumsy, attention-seeking zombie animal softies who just want to be loved!! Brought to life by the delightfully eccentric Professor Unbound, these creations didn't quite come out as he'd intended, but he became quite fond of their zany ways and decided to keep them that way.
Although their existence is a mystery, Professor Unbound has released information about his creations which will be made available to Kickstarter backers in the hope that proceeds will fund further research into his amazing World of Animazombs!
Professor Unbound's first successful batch of Animazombs came from three different sources, and to keep them in an environment they love he houses them in specially devised Eden Project-esque bio-domes of his lab. Three exist at present, but there are plans for many others in the future, should he get the chance, including Polar, Outback, Undergrowth and Aviary domes which he plans to completely fill with his pets!
Lots of time has been spent perfecting each and every character - in fact we've had versions of the whole range created at three different factories which helps to provide a wide scope of interpretations of the production drawings and alongside this provides a great sample of the variety of quality out there and allowed us to ensure our products are at the top end of this scale.
Speaking of scale, the Animazombs are around 30cm tall / long! Also, just to cover up here, you will be asked which Animazombs you want once (and if) the Kickstarter is successful - they're not assigned randomly.
To show you just how seriously we're taking our Animazombs, here's a little more detail on each of our beloved characters, showing where they've come from and also some of their features to (hopefully) help you make a decision on taking them home:
Being moderately clever Thom is the natural leader of the Animazombs and although quite zombified he still has a brain (for now..!) Don't worry about his mouse friend down there though, he's fine.
Features: pull-out brains, removable pet mouse, removable jacket
Samuel always seems to have a belly-ache! Quite possibly due to his insides usually being outsides - but he'll usually clear some space down there just so you can keep things safe inside him.
Features: hidden zip-able stomach cavity pouch with removable intestines
With a snapped neck you wouldn't expect Wilson to be a bright spark... and you'd be right but we all love him anyway - it just means that if something's gone wrong, you can usually find Wilson nearby. * please note the final version will have full embroidery - more images coming soon!
Features: snappable neck with children's plaster holding it together, hidden stomach compartment containing spare body parts and a few other bits he shouldn't have..!
Edgar just loves pirates. Some say a little too much, but we tend to let it slip, even if he does get a bit annoying about it. He's already lost the tip of one tentacle trying to fit too many pirate accessories (all he needs now is a parrot...)
Features: pull-out brain, stylised hook and peg-leg - possible extras depending on overall funding
We get the impression someone might have tried catching Wesley at some point, although he seems to enjoy using the cage as a waist coat and armour, so no problems there. * we'll get a better picture of this one uploaded soon, as this doesn't do Wesley justice!
Features: revealable lobster insides, removable cage, huge claws!
It seems Snyder wasn't alone when the reanimation process took place, so he carries an extra friend around inside him. Either that or he ate goldfish, fishing line, fishing rod and, hopefully not... the fisherman! They both seem to enjoy each other's company; most of the time!
Features: Goldfish friend caught on a fishing line, cavity running through the shark leading to rib-cage prison (visible from outside)
Like all Animazombs, George was named after a zombie legend - and he's a huge fan himself - although ours likes to store bugs in his cheeks! We have no official word from the other one, but we're sure he'll confirm either way.
Features: hidden mouth pouches containing a few bug friends, awesome glasses
Despite appearances, Victor is very lucky and will happily lend you his charms whenever required. He does annoy easily though, especially when the other Animazombs wind him up. *the split-rings on the carrot and leg are temporary mock-ups as we've switched from cord to metal and are awaiting new versions.
Features: removable carrot and leg which can be attached to a key-ring as good luck charms,
Bruno's a dog... he acts like a dog... apart from the humping thing which Victor put a stop to after an unfortunate 'ear incident'..! One thing we still don't understand is how his dog-walker's arm is still attached - some things are probably best left unanswered! * again, we'll hopefully get an even better picture uploaded for Bruno soon
Features: exposed brain, human arm still holding the lead which can be attached to Bruno's stump
You can help the Professor bring his Animazombs to life with any amount of pledge possible - here's what's available!
For clarity, YOU will select the Animazombs you get - they're not given out randomly. If the Kickstarter is successful, we will be contacting you all with a survey asking which Animazombs you want.
Standard items are provided without our special packaging, so we've managed to keep the pledge price at a great level. For clarity, the standard unpackaged items come from the following tiers:
- Rotten-zomb £20 (single Animazomb)
- Decaying-zomb £50 (trio of Animazombs)
- Overly-ripe-zomb £80 (six Animazombs)
- Putrefied-zomb £120 (complete set of Animazombs)
The Collector's Edition rewards come in our completely unique exclusive Kickstarter marked packaging for that series (each shown below) and also allow for further rewards if various stretch goals are achieved. The Collector's Editions are the following tiers:
- Rancid-zomb £25 (single Animazomb)
- Gangrenous-zomb £60 (trio of Animazombs)
- Festering-zomb £100 (six Animazombs)
- Decomposed-zomb £150 (complete set of Animazombs)
We have also created a few additional items which can be included with your pledges, hopefully we'll add to this over the next few weeks, so they'll be even more to choose from at the end should we be successful :)
"Animazombs Kickstarter - I gave them life..." (with Wilson chilling out in his 'relaxed' pose) (KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE!)
The whole of Series 1 on a hard iPhone 4/4S case, we will also consider looking at other smart phone cases (and for the iPhone 5 too) should demand arise.
For those who like them, we commissioned some artists to do a variety of comic strips to help visualise the characters in different styles. Scripted by comedy writer Dean Wilkinson and put to paper by Jim Boswell & Nich Angell (7STRING), we're offering these out as an exclusive to Kickstarter backers, and there'll be properly printed and sent to you - not a PDF download. (And maybe, as a bonus, we'll get them signed by the artists UPDATE: both artists would love to sign copies of these, so along with that, I'll also have them numbered as well) Again, these strips will never see the light of day outside Kickstarter.
If you would like further Animazombs outside of our standard reward options, then you can add these to your pledge via the following additions:
Add £15 for any additional standard Animazomb
Add £20 for any additional Collector's Edition Animazomb.
If you have any queries at all, then just ask us in the comments and we'll be sure to help.
We have plenty of amaaaazing Stretch Goals planned as there's so much we want to do with our Animazombs. We've added lots to keep the fires stoked but nothing that will overburden us to the point we're no longer focused on the primary offering. Many of the goals are directly related to the plush products and there's nothing better than backing a campaign and when it arrives it's a crate crammed full of exclusive goodies!! £1,000,000,000 - REAL ANIMAZOMBS
We'll make the whole Unbound Lab and fill it with real-life (real-dead?) Animazombs if we reach one billion pounds!! And you all get to visit... but no photographs, need to unlock the next stretch goal for that. [This one might possibly be tongue-in-cheek]
Professor Unbound, keen palaeontologist and scientist spent the majority of his life creating wacky inventions to one day bring the long-lost dinosaurs back to life.
His first attempts at bringing creatures back to life were his Grandson’s long deceased pets (he'd kept them in cold-storage... that's not weird, it's frugal!). Spliced with human DNA they looked slightly rotten but adopted human characteristics, emotions and the ability to talk - and using his infinite creativity he termed them animal-zombies, or 'Animazombs' for short.
Housing them in specially created bio-domes of his vast and secretive Lab, the Professor tested the process on other subjects, and following success with Savannah and Ocean corpses he made his first trip back in time (he's a pretty good inventor) to study the dinosaurs and work on a method to bring them to present-day. However, due to the clumsiness of an Animazomb - no names (the Giraffe did it), he ended up trapped in the past, unable to return. Eventually realising their mistake, Unbound's Animazomb pets pay his Grandson Tom a visit at home and explain the situation, leading him back to the forbidden lab.
Tom manages to return his Grandfather to present day and demands an explanation; with the secret out the Professor agrees for Tom to assist in collecting new subjects and completing work for him on one condition – no one must find out about the Animazombs!
We did have a longer pitch video, but cut it down for the Kickstarter page to make it more direct, so given you've read this far, here's the video for you (you'll see why we cut it, but there's some fun bits later on...)
And just for fun:
The Animazombs have been in development for the past year or so, going through various improvements until we were absolutely satisfied with the final products as we're aiming for a top quality product to start our Brand's hopefully long life-span.
We already have every character at final sample stage and ready for production if the Kickstarter is successful - therefore we'd be hitting the go button at our chosen factory as soon as we compile the orders together.
We have also been assured by our factories that all stretch goals can be included without any additional delay to the plan, including the gigantic and Professor Unbound version.
The campaign will be ending early September, and we'll be hitting the go button shortly thereafter. We're aiming to use air-freight from the factory which is more expensive but means production can be complete in 35-50 days ensuring we'll have the product ready for forwarding to you as quickly as possible.
We have provided an official delivery date of December 2013 for the main reward tiers, although we certainly hope to beat this by at least a month. The reason we're being conservative is because I've been on the end of delayed and incorrect shipping with one of my backed projects, and it's rather annoying to say the least.
On top of this, we will be entirely focusing on Kickstarter backer orders to ensure you guys not only get everything you help bring to life as quickly as possible, but also with a real Kickstarter exclusivity to it. Being on the other side of the fence often, I understand what makes a backer feel like they've got a piece of history in their hands when they receive their rewards - and I'm firmly focused on providing this experience with my Animazombs.
That means all of the Kickstarter Exclusive goodies will literally be just that - you will have a limited piece of history, which I sincerely hope will one day have its own increased value for you when we're rocking Series 10 of the Animazombs later down the line :)
Just in case you were wondering, I'm the chap at the end of the video snuggled up with Thom on the couch!
My name is Ashley Yeates and I started a small distribution company in 2011 importing the Japanese product 'Nanoblock' to the UK market in order to make the first steps in running my own businesses. With funds from the success of this, I started various other ventures, including my Animazombs brand, which has developed and grown over the past year into a well fleshed-out concept (excuse the pun).
I have a law degree and prior to running my own business I worked in a wide-variety of industries aimed at building a solid experience and knowledge base going forward. This experience includes direct sales and wholesaling, product packaging, global distribution centres, intellectual property, international shipping, bar-coding, product PR, product design, game design, script-writing, music composing for games and much more.
Keeping myself busy has provided a useful set of skills and experience perfectly aligned for bringing great products to people - and that's what I aim to do.
Some of you might wonder what inspired the whole concept so I'll answer it here given you're reading so fervently about me :) I was playing the original Dead Island online and a good friend of mine questioned why in every zombie outbreak game/film/etc you never see zombie animals and that it would be funny to see a zombie Giraffe wandering around; that was enough for me and 18 months later, here we are :)
It also occurs to me that my 5th wedding anniversary falls mid-way through this campaign on the 30th - so here's to my beautiful wife! :)
The decision to release our Animazombs on Kickstarter was a no-brainer - even Wilson understands why it's such a great launch platform, and with any luck we'll be getting Series 2 out to you guys in no time as well, but WE NEED YOUR HELP!!
Hope you like them :)

Risks and challenges
Putting the immense enthusiasm for this brand aside for one moment, we also possess the necessary experience, knowledge and ability required to see this project through to its imminent end.
As noted above, practically everything has been completed in order to make this product a success (and hopefully this is well-demonstrated within the page itself) - therefore the only remaining stage is actually running the Kickstarter and crossing fingers that people like them enough to support us. (And please please do, it would mean the World to us and we've got loads of great Animazomb product ideas and new Series we want to launch!)
The only real risks and challenges that apply are factors outside of our control, and as such steps have been taken to help mitigate these risks - for example, having 3 factories essentially prepared to produce our designs in case of a worst-case scenario.
Shipping is understandably a challenge often encountered by those who have not already experienced the fun and games of it - thankfully, this is not an issue for us having already shipped products across the globe, so we aim to have an extremely smooth process, but rest-assured that if any problems do crop up, we will engage in active and frequent dialogue with you all.
Thank you! If you have any interest at all, then please support us at any level you can :)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
