You'll want to read this whole update. No, really, you will.
Where do things stand with The Great Way?
Let's glance at the chart!
That's right, copy edits for the entire trilogy have been returned. It's going to take time to check everything over and input them, but this is the last step before I put together the final files and turn them over to the interior designer.
What is left to do?
I'll make a brief, incomplete list, shall !?
- assemble acknowledgement pages from the surveys you answered
- input copy edits
- approve final version of the map, both color and B&W
- turn over interior of the book to the book designer
- turn over cover art and text to cover designer
- print and ship books to backers
- send download link for ebooks
Wait, what was that first one again?
Yes, that's right! I sent surveys to everyone who will be listed in the acknowledgement pages, which are going into the back of the third book, by the way. The survey asks how you want to be thanked. Please answer promptly. If you don't answer before I send the files to the interior designer, I'll just use your Kickstarter username.
In other words, I won't delay the project for because I'm waiting for responses. Yes, I know, crazy, right?
Also, if you are receiving physical books as part of your rewards, the survey is how I will know where to mail your books. So, seriously, folks, answer those surveys.
I'm not kidding when I say that list is incomplete
I'm also working on the revisions for A Key, An Egg, An Unfortunate Remark, and the Fate Core supplements, and of course the desktop wallpaper from the Chris McGrath art...
Hey, good idea. Have some new cover art
Great! Here's the cover art for The Way Into Magic, Book Two of The Great Way:
Here's the cover art for book two. Completely amazing, isn't it? Chris McGrath is amazing.
Am I starting copy edits right away, then?
Answer: nope. I'm deep into the final revision of A Key, An Egg, An Unfortunate Remark, and I can't stop in the middle if I'm going to do a good job. Soon, though. Soon.
Please answer your surveys, people.
Talk to you next month.
