Welcome to the sugary sweet love story of Loca-Love: My Cute Roomate, the latest new game from Frontwing, developers of the Grisaia series, ISLAND, and more! Loca-Love is a visual novel with art by nanaca mai, of Corona Blossom and Grisaia fame, and a story by Japanese writer Hozumi Kei, famous for his sweet and romantic love stories. It follows the exciting but slightly awkward love life of protagonist Aoi Ichitaro after he moves in with the dreamy and sexy girl he's had a long-time crush on...
Loca-Love: My Cute Roommate is the start of a new Frontwing franchise: with further entries planned, you can play this one only as a standalone title, or enjoy the sweet love stories with different heroines of the second and third volumes too!
The game will be released on Steam on October 26th, 2018. With this campaign, we're offering overseas fans an exclusive chance to get their hands on physical copies of the game, special signed goods, and more. Read on for all the sweet details!
Aoi Ichitaro had been living on his own, until disaster strikes at his apartment and he's temporarily evicted.
However, his misfortune turns out to be a blessing in disguise...
"Y-You're... free to come and stay at my place!!"
Kojika Hiwa - Ichitaro's coworker at his part-time job - seems to have gathered all her courage to invite him over. Ichitaro, who had already taken a liking toward her, happily accepts, signaling the beginning of their new life together. At first, things are awkward and embarrassing, but once the two become aware of their mutual feelings, their life takes a turn for the sweet.
Sleeping, eating, going to school... every moment of the day is pure bliss when spent together with the caring and homey Hiwa. Naturally, Ichitaro wishes that they could keep on living together forever. There's just one thing he needs to do to make that happen...

- What can you tell us about the similarities and differences between Loca-Love and your previous project with nanaca mai, Corona Blossom?
As for similarities, I would say that the fact that both have cute girls is the only one: they're completely different genres. Loca-Love is more similar to a previous Frontwing title called Yukikoi Melt (currently only available in Japanese) which was very popular and even earned the prestigious Moe Game Award.
In that game, we presented the concept of "super sweet love": a couple living a blessed life together, maddeningly in love with each other. Some of the dialogue in Yukikoi Melt was so sweet, many players shared with us comments like "I feel I'm gonna get a toothache" or "This should be a mandatory reading for those wanting to know what a 'super sweet love story' is". That's how highly valued the game was.
The Corona Blossom trilogy was more like a single novel when you read the three of them together, but Loca-Love has different heroines in each volume, so it'd be more like an omnibus containing separate short stories. So you can start buying Loca-Love from any volume and read it in any order you like; pick the heroine you like the most and only read her story... No problem with either of those options.
Of course I'd like you to read all of them, though!
- Kojika Hiwa, the heroine of Loca-Love: My Cute Roommate, is of course tremendously cute, but she also has this stern look in her eyes sometimes... What can you tell us about her?
When we decided we wanted to do a story of a couple living together, we created Hiwa as a girl who would be the best suited for this: cute, loved by absolutely everyone at the cake shop she works at part time, but also completely unaware of those things. She would be considerate, and helping the protagonist, who's somehow lost the way in his own life. Her cooking would be great, she would care about the MC's personal appearance and even help him improve it.
Since she also has little siblings, she would have this older sister aura that makes you feel you want to be pampered by her. Even though she's not older than the main character, she has this maternal aura too, and our MC is the most important thing for her. Just by living with her, you will feel blessed every day.
Ah, I wish I could enter the screen and live with Hiwa too!
- Are there any points you want fans from outside of Japan to pay special attention to?
I feel there aren't many visual novels available in English in this "super sweet love" genre. It's a very popular one in Japan, so please by all means play Loca-Love and experience that sweet and tingly sensation for yourself.
There's also a 3D Audio Drama, recorded using binaural technology, that you can access as an extra within the game. The voices are only in Japanese, but it can work as a pretty good ASMR since it's really pleasant to listen to, so please check it too!
- Do you have any funny anecdotes from the development and creation of the game? Could you share them with us?
After reading the script, I really felt the need to find a girlfriend, so I decided to join a matchmaking party... The results were terrible, but that aside, I feel like it's a game that could potentially change your life! You'll probably want to find someone to live with or marry too after playing!

Risks and challenges
The game and its localization are already in development, so we feel confident in being able to deliver the game content to backers on the planned release date.
Our biggest challenge is the production of high-quality rewards for the campaign, but we have many years of experience in merchandise production as well as established business relationships with a number of manufacturing companies, and we are confident we will be able to meet and exceed the expectations of our backers.
