We have reached our initial goal of $6,000 dollars! We have now added a stretch goal!
Our stretch goal is $10,000 dollars and this will provide us a neon sign over our entryway. Help us get there!
We are a husband and wife team opening a taproom in Minneapolis, MN. Samuel is a home brewer, beer enthusiast, and stand up comic. He also comes from a science, phillosophy, and business background. Catherine is a professional photographer in the Twin Cities.
We fully realized the taproom dream a year ago while driving cross country in a month long pursuit of beer and taprooms. With a generous donation of Surly beer and using Reddit to spread the world, we met with beer lovers and enthusiasts at local taprooms throughout 10 major U.S. cities. Trading the coveted Surly for local beer specialties, we amassed a collection of craft beer as well as a collection of memories and connections throughout the beer world. We also knew that beer and beer people were the world we wanted to be part of permanently. We had seen enough! We were going to start a taproom!
Beer. Make great beer. Our dream is beer married with an inviting space for our fellow beer drinkers to gather and have a great experience. We specifically designed the taproom to run with a small two barrel system. We want to have the freedom to constantly change the tap selection. Like the mythical Sisyphus, that rock will always fall back down the mountain just to have to start over. However, our rock isn't a rock; it's a barrel. And that barrel is going to empty, roll down the mountain and be filled with something new.
Our project has two phases. 1. Complete the taproom and get the beer brewing. 2. Build out a comedy/music/event space that will feature local and national entertainment.
Sisyphus Brewing is in a stunning old warehouse building next to Dunwoody and just steps from downtown Minneapolis. We are projected to be open late spring of 2014 and are excited to be the newest members of the Loring Park area community. With it's warm brick walls, big windows and original low beamed ceiling, we know you will love it as much as we do. Did we mention Albert, the taproom dog??!
This is why you are here! The mural! We are participating in Kickstarter to help raise funds for a mural on the side of our building. It will face the 94/394 interchange and thousands of people will see it every day during their commute. We want to let the world know where we are through the talented work of Adam Turman and Jawsh! We are huge fans of these guys' work and you can see it all over the Twin Cities. We hope the mural will stand out as another local icon. These extra funds will get a beautiful unique piece of art up on our wall!
As a thank you, everyone who contributes to our campaign will have their name displayed on a different kind of mural. Each person's name will be written on a bottle cap. These caps will be designed into a mural and displayed in Sisyphus Brewery. We did a small scale version and can't wait to see what the next one will look like!
We are working hard to keep our art and prize sources from local independent businesses. Custom screen print posters are made and designed by Steady Co. in N.E. Mpls and apparel is created by CHUX. It is very important to us to help support local Minnesota creatives and businesses.

Risks and challenges
We have already surpassed many of our biggest challenges, finding a topnotch location, securing federal licensing, and starting the very customized build out. There are a few more hurdles to accomplish but we are confident we will get through them smoothly.
We have fully funded this project ourselves, but need just a little help from all of you beer lovers to put some final distinct Minnesota-proud touches on the building to tell the world we are here!
The Sisyphus Brewing team appreciates your support and contribution to the taproom and local MN artists and businesses.
We hope to fulfill all of prize offerings within the first month of opening the taproom, but if we run a little behind, we apologize!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
