“The Bobcat is an intriguing project as a whole. On first glance, you are treated to Jim Mehsling’s dark and gritty style which feels as if it was divinely gifted for the purpose of doing a western. Then, as you start to settle in with James Hostler’s story, you realize that you are getting far more than you bargained for as a reader. This is a western/superhero/scifi story that just grabs you and makes you want more. I really liked Will Firemaker and look forward to reading many more adventures of The Bobcat. No doubt, this is a winner”- Andrea Molinari creator ‘The Shepherd’
“Obviously GenXGrownUp is a huge supporter of indie comics and Caliber in particular. Our new "Drawn & Paneled" podcast was created specifically with indie creators in mind. The Bobcat Chapter 1 Recap:
The Bobcat Saga is a Western set in 1898 Indian Territory. Will Firemaker is a Cherokee Blacksmith living in Tahlequah. Will has a special relationship with The Great Cat who is considered by the Tribe to be a Guardian of the people sent by the ancestors.
After a cryptic message from Unaduti the Medicine Man, Will remembers his father’s words: “The Great Cat only reveals himself to ‘The Chosen’ “ He soon learns what all of that means for him and finds himself heading down a path that he would never have dreamed of.
The world has changed for Will Firemaker since the loss of The Great Cat. Tales of Old that he had always thought to be fictitious are beginning to appear in the realm of reality, making him question everything that he knows. Unaduti is leading Will to the land where his people once thrived and established the Culture that has sustained the Tribe as they have forged a new life elsewhere. All notions of normalcy and reason are disappearing into a mist of fantasy and adventure.
Will Firemaker has been chosen as a Guardian of his people and a Defender of the common good. His newly formed persona as The Bobcat is going to be tested by those who would prey upon others in this expanding frontier. Friendship will drive him to risk life and limb in an attempt to protect his neighbor's property and thwart foul plans.
