Alexander von Humboldt - Illustrating Nature. The Reprint.
“...Everything about this publication is simply breathtaking…” Missed it? Let’s make Humboldt’s book of nature available again.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Fri, October 12 2018 8:45 PM UTC +00:00.
“My book arrived today and while I must say that I was expecting something in the realms of "pretty good", everything about this publication is simply breath-taking.
From the clean layout and design, to the different sorts of quality paper and paper sizes each matched to their own function function (of that page or pages), to the trilingual text, and - most importantly - the "picture perfect" Humboldt reproductions that are the heart and soul of the project - this is a book in the grand old tradition of fine editions.
I have quite a few books and if anyone ever asks me to show them a recent example of a superb publication I'll hand them this one - just to see their jaws drop and their tongues salivate.”

Last year, we ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to curate a beautiful book of illustrations, maps and sketches from the adventurous travels of Alexander von Humboldt. After reaching our goal, we printed only a limited number of books (as we are a small independent publisher).
This book has received truly wonderful feedback and because of this - we would like to embark on a second print run. Our initial quota of books, have all but sold out.
We think (and hope you agree) that it would be a great shame to finish printing this book after such a small initial print run. We are therefore launching this campaign, since it’s an expensive book to print and we alone, cannot assume the costs without your help!
Feedback of our book from previous backers:
“Got my Alexander von Humboldt! Wonderful book i'm really impressed. Good work. Thanks”

“Una obra de arte.”

For those who don’t know who Alexander von Humboldt was, Charles Darwin said:
[Humboldt was the] greatest scientific traveller who ever lived.
He was a geographer, naturalist and explorer who started traveling in 1799 to explore and to describe the world through the eyes of a modern scientist. His written notes in diaries and letters were illustrated with a great number of drawings.
He met or inspired: Charles Darwin (who read the diaries as a preparation for his own travel), Simón Bolívar, Henry David Thoreau, George Perkins Marsh, John Muir, Ernst Haeckel, Carl Friedrich Gauss, Thomas Jefferson, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe...
Our book, "Illustrating Nature. The World Through the Eyes of Alexander von Humboldt" is a visual travel companion, following the discoveries of one of the world’s greatest scientists. It is our recognition of the wonderful world that Humboldt drew.
Around 300 representative drawings aiming to illustrate the worldview of a modern scientist whose inner impulse was to conceive nature as a whole, moved and enlivened by inner forces.
And it's a trilingual edition: English (main language), German and Spanish.
