About the Project
This will be the first motion picture produced by a Catholic Parish and will focus on reaching the young adult audience. The first step will be producing a short ‘proof of concept’ trailer for the film. The film’s script has been written by Emmy award winning writer, Erika Hill, and we are ready to show the world a fresh, unique, and powerful story! We need YOU to be part of our team and help us get this movie made! Your voice of support via pledging or helping us spread the word about this project is what will truly make this a successful campaign.
Synopsis of the Film
Anthony Seton lives the modern definition of the perfect life. Young and handsome, with a successful job and an active social scene, everything that today’s society covets seems well within his grasp. But when a series of circumstances challenges the foundations of that world, he realizes that life as defined by secular truths may not be much of a life at all—and that the real answer is a lot closer than he thinks.
Genesis of ‘Five Blocks Away’ [From Kevis – Director/Producer]
A few summers ago, I went to see a pre-screening of one the highly anticipated Christian films, Courageous, and was thinking to myself - wouldn’t be great if the Catholic Church would join the battle against Hollywood and make faith films? This is one of those projects that gets an entire church on fire and provides an amazing opportunity to evangelize beyond our own brick and mortar walls. As a Catholic, I saw a huge opportunity to fill a gap in our own faith and rise up to the challenge in making the first motion picture originating from a Catholic parish. I felt the need to really address the young adult audience, as they have not been talked to much directly in previous Christian films. The opportunity is here now and I chose to make a difference in our society.
Now, we need your support in getting this project off the ground. You are the voice that can help spread this project across the nation with your support! Let me show you who we are and what we got!
Did you say ‘national coverage'?
Last summer we began to spread the word about this project to gain to the support of believers all over the nation. We learned a lot and have drawn up a plan to make sure this project sees the light of day!

Erika Hill – Screenwriter Erika Hill was born in Keflavik, Iceland, though she considers herself a gal bred in the Southern United States. She has always had an interest in writing, entering in numerous writing competitions for prose and poetry in elementary, middle school and high school. She cultivated that love by double majoring in Political Science and English at the University of Georgia—the latter major taken on as a ‘stress relief’ to the demanding philosophies of political study. A proud ‘Double Dawg’, she earned her law degree also at the University of Georgia, graduating in 2002. Though she loved the study of law, a career in the entertainment business called to her, and she joined the staff of CSS, a regional sports network, in 2005. During her eight years with CSS, Erika has served in a number of various roles throughout the company, including working on the production side, before settling into the role of Marketing Specialist. Her experience ranges from floor director of live productions to creative print and graphics designer and commercial script writer. In 2009, her efforts towards creative development were recognized by the National Association of Television Arts & Sciences’ Southeastern Region, when she won a Southeastern Regional Emmy award for Outstanding Achievement in Television and Program Specialty Excellence, in the category of Sports Program Feature/Segment. She has since earned two more Emmy nominations for promotional marketing spot development. Though she loves to write, Erika is also an active tennis player, yoga practitioner, and devoted churchgoer—she proudly attends St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic church in Kennesaw.
