------All Stretch Goals reached, fourth stretch goal added! (see below)-----
It’s the summer of 1963. What say you put your time and your bucks to good use this summer. You’re a good grease monkey and a better driver. Buy an old crate, soup it up, and cruise down to Bob’s Drive-In. There’s always some action there. Some real action: racing.
You know you can beat half of those twerps already. And if you can raise some quick cash and buy a better rod, you can beat the rest. You know with the right car you can beat the King.
This is how the famous retro video game begins. Now we offer you the same experience on your table and together with friends: race the Aqueduct Track, earn some cash, upgrade your car into a hot rodding speed machine and win! For 1-5 players. Comes with a free online app.
For both the Basic Set and the Deluxe Set we have a free online app available. This is not necessary for the gameplay, but helps a lot to calculate the score of your Street Rod on the Drag Race, Mulholland Drive or Aqueduct Track.
Have a look!
Street Rod combines hand management with a tactical card drawing system. This results in a revolutionary way to race: even when racing a more skilled player or a stronger car, you still have a chance to win, using the bad luck indicator on every card. This takes into account the small butterfly-effects on every track, like oil slips, rainy weather or a better tuned engine.
Tune and customize your own Rod in the garage. Race outside on the Drag Race, Mulholland Drive or Aqueduct Track. The same car scores differently on every track, so choose wisely which track to race. Beat the King on the Aqueduct Track to win the game.
Start: At the beginning of the game, you split the deck and search yours for cars and parts worth $500. You like the Chevrolet ($300), add some tires ($100) and for the remaining $100 you pick a carburator.
Customize: You draw 5 cards from the deck. This is the store. Your budget is $200 so you buy... the engine. It's a General Motors, so it fits your chevrolet! You add it to your hand.
Challenge: Who do you want to race? Patty? Nah, too easy. You want to race Tom in a Drag Race, Pink Slips. His score on that track is 18.
Race: What's your score on the Drag Race Track? On the Drag Race, your total Power is doubled. So your end score will be: Power *2 + Acceleration + Skill = (2+2+0+1)*2 + (2+0+1+1) + 0 = 14. This means your score against Tom is 14-18 = -4. Just use our online app to skip these calculations.
Win: Pick the upper card from the deck and check the BadLuck Indicator. If it's equal to or lower than your score against Tom, then you've won. The BadLuck Indicator is -7. Victory! You've won! Add Tom to your hand. Next time you race you will have an extra 6 skill points. You're almost ready to race the King!
The Basic set (MRSP: €13) contains the rules sheet, 54 cards (12 cars, 16 opponents and 26 parts), wrapped in a simple Tuck Box.
In the Deluxe version (MRSP €19), the tuck box is replaced for a twice as big 140x100x25mm Telescope Box. A sturdy inlay keeps the 54 cards (12 cars, 16 opponents and 26 parts), and the rules sheet steady.
Two sets of the deluxe versions. Combine the sets to play the game with up to 10 players, or give a friend his own Street Rod :-).
'Expand your own campground with bluff, tactics and bribery' - this is the goal of our previous game, Clash d'Ardèche (2017, 1-4 players). The Gaudete Games Package includes the Deluxe version of Street Rod (MRSP: €19) and one copy of 'Clash d'Ardèche - campground Tycoon' (MRSP: €39).

Marco from StreetRodOnline.com played the PC-game for hours as a teenager. For love of the game he purchased the intellectual property of Street Rod and both the Street Rod I and Street Rod Rod II video games are for download on his site: streetrodonline.com. Risks and challenges
Last year, unfortunaty we did not fund our campaign for Street Rod. In retrospect we should've waited with launching until our previous campaign, Clash d'Ardèche, was fulfilled.
In the meantime all backers of Clash d'Ardèche received their games. Of course this was not without stumble blocks, but with the help of the online community of designers and publishers, we succeeded.
We learned a lot about the process of producing and fulfilling a board game in the process and we value those lessons.
That said, Street Rod - the Card Game is not that complicated. We will have no translation issues as it's English-only. Fulfillment will be by Royal Dutch Mail only and what will surely help is that Evie, our graphic Designer, is also from the Netherlands, so communication will be swift.
We love this game and we love to bring it to your table. So whatever it takes, we will overcome all challenges!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
