Merry Go Round is a fun family game. In the game, you play as a carousel animal who wants nothing more than to escape the merry go round, and reach the outside world! The first player to reach an exit point on the board, is the winner!
The game is divided into 3 phases:
Phase 1: In phase one, each player is given 5 movement tokens, and 2 special tokens. These tokens allow you to plan how you will move your playing token down the board. Each colored movement token, allows you to move your playing token onto a corresponding colored tile. If you are standing in front of a tile in the same color as your playing token, you can jump down for free!
Phase 2: Next, the carousel will spin! Each layer of the board is spun one tile in a clockwise direction.
Phase 3: It’s time to carry out your planned movement tokens. You must move your playing token according to the order in which you arranged your movement tokens in phase one, form left to right. Each player carry’s out their movements by turn.
You can read the full rulebook here.
Easy to learn: We have designed a comprehensive rulebook that outlines the phases of the game very clearly. An overview of the phases can also be found on each players ticket container.
No reading necessary!: All of the tokens communicate their purpose through fun illustrations, which can be easily understood without text.
Fast gameplay: Merry Go Round is designed to be played in no more than 20 minutes. If you have the time, play again!
Interactive game board: Since the board has been designed to look, and act like a carousel, kids will have loads of fun taking turns spinning the game board.
Educational & Fun Learning: Merry Go Round is both fun, and challenging - this allows the game to act as a great educational tool! Merry Go Round challenges kids to identify color, plan and think ahead.
Easy to set up: In the video we have playing cards but for the finalised version of the game, we have replaced cards with tokens which will come in a shuffle bag (this has been calculated into the price of the game and shipping) Tokens will be easier to shuffle, ensuring the game is fair and fun, especially for kids!
Hi! I'm Astrid. I'm a game design student, living in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is my first attempt at taking one of my board game concepts further than a basic prototype. This project has taken loads of work, so I am so incredibly excited to share it with you!
My 3 favourite things are: Hotdogs, playing boardgames and drinking beer with friends.
Hi! I'm Angie. I'm a graphic design student (and illustration lover) from Melbourne, Australia. Designing the graphics for Merry Go Round has been my dream project. I was able to use loads of color, create some cute and playful characters, and design something that would be really fun and engaging for kids!
My three favourite things are: Making new friends, perfect colour combinations, and reading a really good book!
Merry Go Round would be nothing without our amazing play testers. Without their support, ideas and insanely valuable feedback, the game simply wouldn’t be what it is. In designing the game, we’ve learnt the importance of working collaboratively with people, to be sure that we don’t miss out on any great ideas!
When deciding on the appropriate platform to take Merry Go Round further, we knew that kickstarter would be the perfect place for us to continue getting feedback and working collaboratively in completing the project.
Merry Go round is approved by the Nordic Game Artisans. Their aim is to play and test games, and to approve them as being ready to present either to a publisher, or to be launched for sale (on kickstarter for example!). You can find out more about the Nordic Game Artisans by clicking on the logo.

We have a great working relationship with our manufacturers, Wingo. They were kind enough to invite us to come meet them in person at their factory in China. The meeting allowed us to communicate very clearly what our goals for the project were, our budget, and to discuss the smaller manufacturing details that will make Merry Go Round the best product possible.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge we can foresee in our kickstarter campaign, is shipping. However, we are very well prepared. We have found a reliable storage space, who are able to ship the game and the gifts out for us (no matter where you are in the world!) You will receive a tracking number, which will allow you to track the location of your order.
If there are any delays in shipping, you will be contacted as soon as possible. In addition, once the campaign is complete we will remain in contact with you.
We've done as much as we can to ensure that the price of the game will remain the same - however, as this is our first kickstarter campaign, there is a chance that some additional costs will arise.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
