"We are less lonely when we connect. Art is connection." - Nikki Giovanni
Still Feeling is a celebration of the human spirit. This film features four artists who are elevating their experiences of child sexual trauma through artistic expression; demonstrating the beauty of human resilience. Still Feeling, invites victims to connect with their family and friends, and journey with us. At the end of this feature length documentary, our goal is for victims to feel validated, and for their loved ones to be able to say, "Now I understand."
Our crew is traveling to Israel, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Canada to spend time with the artists, and document their artistic processes as they create and perform original pieces that communicate their experiences. After the performances, we will host two roundtable dinner discussions, one with the artists, and the other with a group of professionals in this area of trauma. This Kickstarter campaign is asking for $25,000 to finance the first segment of our film, to spend one week in Israel with Yuval Goldenberg.
Yuval is an up-and-coming singer/songwriter born and raised in Israel. Growing up on a Kibbutz in the north, Yuval was a great student, wonderful daughter, and loyal friend. But a dark secret was lurking in the shadows of her childhood. Without knowing how to get help, and carrying all of the shame on her young shoulders, Yuval turned the pain on herself and suffered terribly into her adolescence.
At her breaking point, Yuval started to write. She found the strength to transform her pain into powerful lyrics. At a time when Yuval’s life was consumed by the pain, and her daily interactions were overpowered by the trauma, Yuval says, “My only lifeline was my music.”
Today, Yuval chooses to come face-to-face with her pain rather than live in the shadow of the trauma. For Yuval, the essence of her story is about elevating her experiences. Every day is a struggle, and Yuval wants people to see what that struggle looks and feels like; and wants people to know that if hardship is met with determination, it can be the fire that ignites rather than burns.
Yuval has remained closely connected with the friends she has made along the way, and she is heavily involved with women’s groups that support abuse victims. On March 8th, International Women's Day, our crew will film Yuval in a live performance at the Habima theatre with a group of women who have been working for the past year on a show that was written, produced, and features female victims and survivors. While in Israel, we will spend time with Yuval’s family and friends as she communicates what she has learned on her journey, in the ancient land of Israel.

As a survivor of child sexual abuse who understands the need to be received in order to heal, I wanted to find a more effective way to connect family and friends to the experiences of other victims and survivors. I realized that art is a transcendent experience, engaging all types of people. And through the work of four courageous artists, we will bridge the gap between victims of child sexual abuse and their communities.

Risks and challenges
The purpose of this campaign is to crowdfund the production costs for Yuval's segment of our film, and to make it in time for her performance on March 8th. That gives us exactly one month to fundraise and start production simultaneously. This is an enormous feat - and that's precisely the reason we are campaigning through Kickstarter.
Normal film grant cycles take months before any money is attained. But Yuval's story is happening now. On March 8th, Yuval stands on the largest theatre in Israel and performs with other women who were abused in order to share her experience with a large audience. This is our story within a story, and it's a once-in-lifetime shot!
We believe that our audience wants to make this happen, and that the crowdfunding community will come through in this crunch time to invest in Yuval and to support Still Feeling, the film!
We are a resilient team of artists and filmmakers who will do whatever is needed to raise the funds necessary to create this documentary, and we appreciate all of your support.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
