Twig is an ultra-portable cable for your iPhone. It has a bendable wire "skeleton" and three "legs". Bend it into tripod mode and more.

The cable that comes with your iPhone is actually a pretty nice cable. But it's so damned long! And if you're on-the-go all the time, then you know that yanking that cable out of your bag is a hassle. It gets caught on stuff in your bag. It pulls other crap out of there too--keys, pens, other cables, you name it!
Say hello to Twig.
Twig is incredibly short, so it's ultra-portable. It's only 4 inches (102 mm) long, so it's the perfect iPhone cable for anyone who is on-the-go. But Twig's size isn't the only thing it has going for it. We have designed Twig with a bendable wire "skeleton" and three "legs". These bendable legs are what make Twig so amazing.
The wire skeleton inside Twig isn't a limp noodle like those bendable toys from gum-ball machines. Twig is strong. Bend a leg, and it stays bent. Bend all three legs, and make a tripod. Bend Twig and plug it into your AC adapter to make an instant wall charger dock. And when you want to hit the road, just bend Twig back into ultra-portable mode and chuck it in your bag. It's like no other cable, and it's awesome.
What can you do with Twig and your iPhone?
- Sync and charge on-the-go. It's ultra-portable.
- Charge your iPhone right on the outlet.
- Snap fun tripod photos on-the-go.
- Pose for perfect self-timer photos.
- FaceTime with friends: on-the-go and hands-free!
- Prop-up those laid-back speaker-phone calls.
- Crank-up an impromptu upright boombox.
- Save space with the best earbud cord wrap.
- Use it with all iPhones, touches, and nanos.
If you've watched the video, then you know that our crew is big on prototyping. We aren't afraid to rip stuff apart, scratch our heads a bit, and then glue it all back together in almost-unimaginable new ways. In fact, it's just that kind of design and prototyping that led to Twig. We learned a bit from each prototype and used that knowledge to make the next one better. After a few iterations, our fully-functional prototypes work great, and our 3D-printed prototypes look even better. Now the next step for this thing is mass production, and that's where we need your help.
Funding for this project will pay for plastic injection molds, wire forming fixtures, elastomer over-mold tooling, and much more. Our supplier already makes cables for the iPhone, so (believe it or not) the electrical wiring and connectors for Twig will be the easy part. The tooling for the connector bodies and leg over-molding will soak up most of our production schedule, and if this thing gets funded, we anticipate shipping Twig to backers at the end of September.
Thank you very much.
We're a product development company in Portland, Oregon. We design and develop consumer electronics products for companies like Apple, Intel, Dell, and Nike--and we have brought dozens of products through mass production for our clients over the years. We've even put a couple of smaller projects into retail by ourselves. Our team is really excited about Twig, but launching a product like this on our own is something that just doesn't pencil-out without the right kind of funding up front. In other words, this is the perfect kind of project for Kickstarter. Thank you so much. And please share this project with your friends! If they have an iPhone, chances are that they will love Twig too.
- ultra-portable cable
- bend it on-the-go!

We're using Apple's 30-pin connector for this Kickstarter project. This connector works for all iPhones (4S, 4, 3GS, 3G, original), all iPod Touches, and all iPod Nanos. If Apple uses something new for the iPhone 5, then the plan would be to offer those too at a later date. Also: keep in mind that there will probably be adapters available from Apple and/or other suppliers.
If your stock iPhone cable works with your case, then Twig will too. The connector bodies are the same size.
This actually isn't a frequently asked question--probably because Twig is so easy to use.
Step 1: Bend it.
Step 2: Connect it.
