If it crept in slowly day after day? If it was easy to just let things happen?
What are you prepared to lose?

28/11/2018 Update: Yup, 3rd Stretch Goal reached :)
Hi, I'm Zhou and I wrote and drew Garden, a 72 page one-shot graphic novel for teens and up. Originally a webcomic, a first, limited print run of the book was printed in December last year, and I've pretty much sold out of copies.
This Kickstarter, then, is to fund a second print run.
I am going with Kickstarter because funding is tight (messy dental problems!), and also to help get it into the hands of people who don't go to any comic conventions I happen to go to. If you back the project, you'll also help support me on future works I am planning! Thanks!
Garden is the WINNER of the SCOTTISH INDEPENDENT COMIC BOOK AWARDS, for Best Graphic Novel and Best Up and Coming Talent, 2018.
"Garden is a compelling graphic novel, told with plenty of wit, love and charm - can't wait to see what this creator does next!" - David Bishop, former editor 2000AD
"Garden is an arresting work of imagination which fully deserves the praise it has garnered" - Daredevils and Warriors
"A delightfully atmospheric tale that draws the unsuspecting reader in, grasping for the tangled secrets gradually divulged. Garden is a fresh experience for eyes old and new, by a fantastically talented creator. Very highly recommended!" - Thal (@thalestral)
"Zhou Fang is a rising star in the Scottish comics scene. His work is visionary and considered. Within tales of the fantastical, a nuance concerning everyday, human emotion is weaved. The deft with which Zhou handles issues of race, friendship and youth is rarely paralleled. His voice is fresh, engaging and necessary, with style to boot." - Nyla Ahmad
"It was AMAZING." - A teenage girl
(More may possibly be added if we hit stretch goals. Shipping is free for UK backers):
£3: A PDF of the book - this is included in all higher tiers also
£10: The printed book itself. Signed!
UPDATE: In addition, all physical rewards will include a little bookplate to commemorate being a kickstarter backer. There's also stickers for higher tier backers.
£10: "I have the book already, gimme stuff that isn’t the book!" An A5 print, plus an A5 inktober comic. Maybe some other bits and bobs to congratulate you on being an early adopter! (Does not include physical book!)
The inktober book is a wordless comic I recently made (It's 40 pages because of the cover, and due to some double page spreads). I cheated a bit to add colours afterwards, and the book will be printed A5. The comic is about the affects of an alien spaceship arriving out of nowhere, and is inspired by The Dark Forest and probably some other stuff I've been reading. Maybe some folks will like it??
The print is an A5 print of the main characters of Garden.
£20: The printed book plus extras from previous tier: an A5 print, plus an A5 inktober comic. The book will have a sketch in it.
£70: The book plus extras plus a commission!
For the commission, think of something of the same level of detail as the print, except A4. Keep it SFW please. Check out my website at http://fangdraws.co.uk for inspiration.
Let's add some stuff!
REACHED! 170% (£1360): I will do a sketch in books at the £20+ tiers. So the ones with the goodies or the commissions. I will also sign all the books. Don't, er, expect too much out of these sketches, it's just a fun thing. If there's a *ton* of backers I might not end up sketching very well, or signing all the books. I hope folks understand... Also of course if you don't want me to vandalise your lovely books you can just say so in the backer survey.
REACHED! 230% (£1840): I will include a bookplate with all the physical rewards. A bookplate is basically a nice decorative label to stick on to the inside cover of the book, which I'll put on a little message about how you backed the kickstarter. In addition, if you went for a reward tier that includes goodies (so the £10 goodies tier, or the £20+ tiers) I am adding some stickers to that. I'll have news nearer to the time about how these stickers would look.
REACHED! 290% (£2320): Basically what I've done so far is try and keep the book itself within a weight limit. For international postage especially, going above that limit is quite a bit more expensive. But if we hit this stretch goal, I'm gonna put aside this limit and see where we can go.
What this means is a bunch of possible things. Better quality paper? Spot UV cover? A (slightly) extended process section and better endpapers? In any case, everyone will get a nicer book.
Good luck everyone!
Risks and challenges
The comic already exists and has been printed once already, hence the risk is pretty small from that point of view. The main risk is issues with the printer. I will be using the same printer as before to minimise the likelihood of things going wrong, and I don't plan on making large changes beyond a few small fixes to layout. If the volume of orders is a lot bigger than I expect, I will be overjoyed.... but that may also lead to delays. In particular I will try to aim for delivery of the book before Christmas, but I may not manage it.
The commissions reward tier is the most likely to be delayed, especially if lots of people pick that and they all want something complicated. I'm just one person! I will send the book as a separate delivery if requested. I do reserve the right to refuse to do some requests, and will refund in that case if necessary.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
