Down to the wire!

Posted by Chance Press (Creator)

*Most important thing in this update: If you are attending SPX in September and would like to pick up your book in person, let me know! This saves precious time and money shipping books, so anyone who picks up a book in person will be doing me a favor!

Hello generous backers! I apologize that I've gone so long without posting an update... I realize that part of the Kickstarter experience is getting a first-hand look at the process behind a creative project, so I feel bad I've been keeping everyone in the dark. That being said, I've been working extra hard in order to deliver rewards on time, and that hasn't left much time for detailed process posts/videos/etc. So, in order to satisfy both goals, I have been snapping photos of the books as I go, and once all the rewards are shipped, THEN I will sit down and write backer-only process posts that you may enjoy reading. That way, you still get to see how the sausage is made (and why the sausage is designed the way it's designed), but those updates don't come at the expense of your rewards shipping later than they otherwise would.

You do deserve an update on where your reward is, though, so here goes:

$5 tier (preview book): you should have received your reward already - if not, contact me!

$15 tier (sketch print): After I came back from New York, I decided that I wasn't happy with how this print came out, so I redid it on better paper. I sent it to Kim to sign and the *!&?ing post office lost the package, along with a bunch of other stuff critical to the project. It's a real bummer, but here we are. So, I reran all 20 prints again last night and will put them in the mail this week. These will probably end up shipping out with the books in mid-September. (This also applies to everyone whose reward tier includes this print.)

$25 tier (color print): you should have received your reward already - if not, contact me! If your reward tier includes this print, it has been set aside for you and will ship when the rest of your reward is ready.

$50 tier (letterpress print): these prints just came in and will ship out the next time I can get to the post office! If your reward tier includes this print, it has been set aside for you and will ship when the rest of your reward is ready.

$60 reward (trade edition): I'm about halfway through binding these, so you should get your book on time in mid-September. (This also applies to all of the rewards that include the trade edition of the book.)

$75 reward (print set): This one also got lost in the mail, and reprints will ship to Kim to be signed later this week.

$150 reward (medium fancy edition): I'm hurrying to finish these by the end of September, which would mean that they technically shipped on time. These may be a little late, though.

$200 reward (museum quality print): you should have received your reward already - if not, contact me!

All deluxe edition rewards: Uhh... I'm doing my best. October, or maybe November? Not sure right now. Contact me if you'll be at SPX and want to pick it up in person - maybe I can hurry and get your copy done. I'll also be at the Comic Art LA show in December, if you plan to attend and would like to pick up your copy in person there.

Finally, I have been posting snapshots to Tumblr, so you're welcome to follow Chance Press over there to see little snippets of progress on the books. The good news is that everything looks totally fantastic and I can't wait to ship these out! Okay, thanks again for your support - now it's back to binding books! -Jordan

Yes, I'll be at SPX, and I'll be happy to pick my book up then.
