The Pi SAFE was designed for your TV stand! With low consumption of power and small size, the Raspberry Pi is a perfect device to run your XBMC media center in your living room.
When the Raspberry Pi sits on your TV stand, without the Pi SAFE, the Raspberry Pi looks cluttered and bare. Even with current available cases in the market, cords are scattered in all directions.The Pi SAFE uses an HDMI adapter so that all necessary cords are coming out of the case in the same direction, through the back, like other TV set-top boxes.
The Pi SAFE organizes your necessary Raspberry Pi cords, 1. the power cord and 2. the HDMI cord, to face the back direction! These two cords are the only cords needed to run your XBMC media center when using a USB Wifi adapter.
The Raspberry Pi RJ-45 Ethernet port is unnecessary when using a USB Wifi adapter with XBMC. However, if the customer prefers to use the Ethernet port, the case has a grove on the side so that the user can cut the wall of the Pi SAFE to reveal the Ethernet port!

The Pi SAFE will ship with a male to female HDMI right angle 90 degree port saver adapter so that your HDMI jack is facing the same direction as your power connector! (This adapter will NOT interfere with video or audio quality.)

The Pi SAFE was designed to accept all Micro SD adapters on the market, for the Raspberry Pi!
The Raspberry Pi has been on 24/7, while in the Pi SAFE, and has not experience any change in performance.

COST AND WHERE YOUR MONEY IS GOING:
Besides the first 100 units, the Kickstarter's price of the Pi SAFE is $25 plus shipping. Once the Pi SAFE is successfully funded and products are sent to Kickstarter customers, the price will be raised after the Kickstarter project is complete (available for purchase on the future website)! So get your Pi SAFE before the Kickstarter project ends to save money and to bring the project closer to success!

*Tooling for the two Pi SAFE plastic parts: top housing and bottom housing
*Raw polycarbonate material (plastic) for the injection molding

Once the Kickstarter project is successfully funded, it will take around 2 months to finalize the design, build the plastic tooling, manufacture the 2 plastic housing parts, receive first samples for approval, receive production parts, receive the HDMI adapters, and assemble for shipment to customers.

The Pi SAFE will currently be displayed on Kickstarter and Facebook at http://facebook.com/THE.Pi.SAF! Once the Kickstarter project is successfully funded, a website will be created for sales of the Pi SAFE.
PACKAGING AFTER THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT:
Once the Pi SAFE is successfully funded, future sales of the Pi SAFE will be available through the Pi SAFE website. With the higher price tag, the product will also include packaging (most likely a trapped blister package).

THE STORY BEHIND Pi SAFE
I received my first Raspberry Pi a year ago! I purchased 5 of these little computers for Christmas presents to my immediate family! I had already been using XBMC media center for a year at that point and wanted my family to enjoy the same amazing experience as I had! After researching different options, to run XBMC, I found the inexpensive Raspberry Pi! I soon found out the limited amount of cases available in the market. So I decided to use my laser cutter at work to make a case that would keep my gifts safe! Once my family opened their gifts and started using them, I had complaints that the device looking unorganized and cluttered. Once again, I looked on the market and found nothing.
At this point, I started modeling ideas for a Raspberry Pi case. After looking on the market, I realized that every case available was just used to protect the case but not to organize the cords. The first concept I had for a case is shown in the image below. The user would need to serpentine the cords, for the Raspberry Pi, through the case to go out the back. I wanted to make the case useful for all cords available to the Raspberry Pi.

After this, I decided the case was too large! So I began brainstorming again. One day I realized that the majority of people using this as a media center would only use HDMI. So I eliminated both the video and audio jack extension areas. I also wanted and made the case look more like a media TV set-top box! As you can see in the image below, there is a wire hanging out the left side of the case! This was an HDMI male to female extension cable. My last name is Zagone and I wanted to implement my name into the device name somehow, so I called the case Zberry!
I realized I needed a logo and I could not use the Raspberry Pi logo, so I designed the logo below in SolidWorks!
I added the logo to the case!
At this point, I wanted to make the case more square than rectangular! I found the 90 degree HDMI male to female adapter, specified above, and remodeled the case! This allowed me to make the case smaller!

FUTURE DESIGN ITERATION BEFORE PRODUCTION :
Currently the Pi SAFE has three posts for hardware assembly. I will be adding a fourth post to make the Pi SAFE assembly more sturdy! Everything else on the Pi SAFE turned out perfect. NOTE: grown parts are usually a little bit smaller than the design. This is why it bulges lengthwise in the prototype. I will be add many inspection dimensions, with tolerance in the drawing, to guarantee that there will be plenty of room in the case.
Risks and challenges
Risks and Challenges:
The Pi SAFE has a few risks and challenges: time and quality of parts!
In terms of quality, I address this risk by receiving initial samples from the finished tooling, for the plastic parts, before production begins for final parts. As for the HDMI adapters, I will randomly select a group of adapters to test for quality control once received.
