So, now you got the gist of it. We're making a short film that tells a real life story that almost every teenager experiences. This one's centered around one who rides a skateboard. If you've ever been alone, moved to another city, felt like you didn't belong or fit in, been picked on, felt weak, or sensitive, or shy, even for a minute, you'll find something in this story to relate to.
PROJECT UPDATES HERE!!!! - Just got support from The Farley Project (a charity against bullying), GIRL Skateboards (they donated some skateboard stuff), The Dailey Method (gave us a free membership to give away!), and Iron Fist (some of their skaters are going to be in the film and they are donating gear) The Farley Project might have one more really cool announcement for us very very soon! Stay Tuned!!!
CREATIVE TEAM (always growing)
Since the birth of this little idea (thanks John Methvin), it has gotten pretty massive for a four minute movie. How?
We've got a killer Director of Photography named Daron Keet. He's a South African fella that won 1st place with his work in the 2012 International Cinematographers Guild - Emerging Cinematography Awards. He and I have been chatting daily, working out an amazing shot list that includes hover cameras!! It's going to be EPIC.
Lije, the Director, has a BIO right below the cool sunset picture to the right (PROFILE)--------------------->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Our "Hero" is a real-life young skateboarder who shreds and we are going to keep his identity a secret. He doesn't want me telling people his name until this riveting film makes him more famous than he already is. He's also a little shy...
Why do We need $5555?
We don't want to just do it to do it. We want to knock it out the mother scrubbing park! And we've got the infrastructure to do it! I'll sum up what we need very simply. We've got a bit of camera equipment to rent (Canon C300 and a few Cinema Prime lenses), some Hover Cameras to pay for (these dudes are legit), permits (FilmLA), hard drives, locations (secret but amazing), food for the kids to eat (filet mignon right?), and a some pay for our actors (we have to cast our Hero's love interest ;-)), skaters, and crew. We're hoping to raise more than our goal so we don't have to "bare bones" it. But if "bare bones" is the only choice, we will definitely manage!
THAT'S ALL WE HAVE TO PAY FOR. That's it. And keep in mind, I am getting discounts at about 75% off for all this stuff. Almost forgot, there's a potential festival run that might come from this (submission fees, gotta love them). Sundance, SXSW anyone?
Heres some stuff that's already been donated because these folks believe so strongly in the project!! CLICK ON THEIR NAMES IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THEM!! Producers (COMING SOON), a Director (Lije Sarki), a DP (Daron Keet), an Editor (Benjamin Baudhuin), a KILLER LOCATION DOWNTOWN (what up, Nosa!), a lighting package from LODGER FILMS, a fiscal sponsorship from FILMMAKERS ALLIANCE, and I am just getting started! I'll update this as we move forward over the next few weeks. Shout outs to Skinner Myers, Vincent DeLuca, Tuffy Williams, and Matt Richmond for jumping on board.
JUST IN - RUMBATIME IS GIVING US WATCHES FOR A REWARD!!
KEEP COMING BACK AS THIS LIST WILL GROW!! AND SO WILL THE REWARDS!!
The short video was edited by Benjamin Baudhine and shot by Richard Perry. Thanks guys.
Risks and challenges
Thankfully we live in L.A. so the chance of rain ruining the day is slim. Cops can't stop us cuz we got permits!
All that being said, we don't have a lot of possible setbacks. We are prepped and getting more and more prepped every dang day. Our army of help is growing. And most of all, I have a history of getting things done and finishing what I start. Help us, join us, promote us, and let's make some art!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
