Welcome back to the Destiny Aurora universe with issues 4 and 5 of the comic series. The artwork continues to be incredible by the amazing talent of Joseph Sanchez. Written by award-winning writer, Frank Zanca, the story continues and the twists keep coming.
Destiny Aurora is the story of Jayce Carver, a broken man, whose life was turned upside down when his senatorial wife was assassinated while he was tasked with protecting her. Spiraling into oblivion, Jayce becomes reclusive until his friend offers him a job as a Coalition Inspector. Still wracked by guilt and known for his reckless demeanor, he's assigned a crew no one else wants. Now, after five years, he has finally tracked down the assassin.
The Destiny Aurora crew consists of it's weapons expert, Rovanna Zoor, the half-human, half-Kraysorian runaway turned Dregg slave, who was rescued by Jayce as a teenager. Her dual heritage gave her a unique look and keeps her feeling self-conscious.
X-473 performs two functions on the ship. He not only is the communications officer, but he's also the ship's medic. His desire to learn about organic beings and how they behave, and their cultures make him question everything, sometimes in the midst of awkward situations.
Then there's Rolf, the wise-cracking Caltoran engineer. Rolf and Jayce barely ever see to eye-to-eye, leading to arguments and Rolf's desire to get reassigned at least twice per day. Thus far, he hasn't put any of them through.
Lastly, there's the newest member of the crew, Flibby Yaas. The Reynian pilot may be insubordinate, loud and talkative, but what she lacks in manners, she makes up in pure talent. Whether its behind her console or behind a wheel, Flibby can navigate the most difficult of courses or streets.
It's Flibby Yaas' first day, but she's already heard all of the scandalous stories about her new commander - Lt. Inspector Jayce Carver. This didn't wane her enthusiasm about joining the crew of the Coalition starship Destiny Aurora, however.
Jayce was a Secret Service director and on this particular day he was tasked with the safety of his wife, Senator Anna Carver. She had never been a target before. The intergalactic assassin known as Kunlore Thorne pulled the trigger that would end her life, changing his forever.
At the last moment, Jayce saw the glint of the sniper rifle in the distance. Attempting to block the bolt, he leaped in front of her, but it was too late.
Leaving the Secret Service, Jayce joined the Coalition as an inspector and spent five years searching for the assassin without success. The search brought him and the crew of the Destiny Aurora to the lawlessness of Dregg Space.
Against the orders of his captain, Jayce landed on Port Saven looking for the Zurathi weaponeer, So'len Frae, who allegedly had been in contact with Kunlore Thorne.
After tracking down So'len Frae, he upgraded the Destiny Aurora's weapons systems and confirmed that he had upgraded Kunlore Thorne's weapons as well.
Following Frae's direction the Aurora tracks Thorne's location, but when the find it, the ship is simply laying dormant.
What will Jayce's next move be? Find out in issues 4 & 5. Pledge now and experience the incredible battle between Jayce and Kunlore Thorne.
