Arketekton is the story about Norman, an architect, living in a dystopic future; a world where independent thinking is not tolerated and everyone draws along the same line. In this world Norman’s individuality is hard to disguise and often the reason for his exclusion. That is, until one day quite by mistake Norman stumbles upon the building blocks of a creative revolution, and turns his world upside down.
The story is based in a dystopian pre-revolution future, and having now locked the script, we have started the preliminary work for the pre-production of this film. As the world we are trying to create is a dystopian future, much care must go into creating it. Thus the production design is a large part of making the world believable and subsequently will go towards making this a successful short film. A sum of the money we raise, will go towards sourcing the right props, locations, and costumes in order to design and create the world as Norman sees it.
However, we cannot become fully immersed in producing this film until we raise the sufficient funds to do so. We are also currently searching for the cast and crew as well as the equipment, and it is our Producers that are working hard to make sure everything is done within our budget and time scale.
Whilst producing the project, as the director, I will work with the DOP, production designer and costume designer to create a visually engaging piece of film, that is true to the characters and the world we are trying to create.
A fraction of the money we raise will also go into the logistical needs of a short film production.
The production starts on the 29/09/14, and will go on for 3 working days. We plan to have a completed film by the 25th October.
The money we raise for Arketekton will go towards making this film a reality. All contributions, large and small, will go towards making this film the best it can be.
The funds that will be allocated to the production design will go into getting the right locations, and the right props to dress our sets. As the world we are trying to create is set in a time where faceless functionalism dominates, much care must go into sourcing the right locations, based on the Bauhaus movement. The props subsequently must all be geometric, including the square glass monocle that Gonzo, the boss of the firm, wears.
The funds allocated to the costume department will go towards getting the right materials for the outfits including the right shoes, trousers, making the transparent pouches and will go towards making a highly designed costume fit for the employees at Arketekton.
The funds allocated to the equipment will go towards getting the right lenses for the Black Magic 4k which we plan to shoot on. It will also go towards getting the right equipment including a dolly and jib for moving camera work.
The rest of the funds will go towards paying our talented and experienced actors, as well as the essential members of the crew, catering to feed out hard working team, and will cover the costs of renting a van and driver and the logistical needs of the project.

Risks and challenges
The team onboard this project is extremely talented and skilled in their area of expertise. However, as with every film, there are a few risks and challenges that come with completing this project.
We are dedicated to making this film the best it can be, and in order to do so, we must overcome our first challenge of funding the film. Every donation, large or small, will go towards making this film to the highest standard possible.
The biggest challenge we face, as well as finding the right actors for the film, is the production design, as it requires more then just the right locations. Thus, myself and our production designer, Alex, are working together to ensure that we are resourceful whilst creating a believable dystopian world.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
