Do you dream? If you could make real your most wonderful or poignant dream, what would it be? Is it the perfect love, or your ideal home or job?
Think about your dream for a moment, think about how it feels to be there and reach it. It could be the most beautiful moment of your life.
Our film is about dreams that feel as real, alive and are as possible as that moment you have thought of. But our film is about the dream of freedom and love in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Perhaps you have seen the images in the news already and know in Ukraine that every day, every hour, people have been protesting and dying for their dream of democracy and freedom. For too long, they have felt caught in a nightmare, where their hopes and dreams were never reachable. Now they are close.
Our film's story is rooted in the peoples search for their dream. A dream of freedom and real democracy that offers a powerful, dramatic and moving creative metaphor to recent events.
We have been to Kyiv recently and have watched events very closely and are aware of the risks present. We have a highly experienced, award winning team in the UK and in Ukraine who are extremely committed to make the film.
Support us in making this film our dream, an important, worthwhile and poignant project.
OUR STORY - BACKGROUND
Sleeper was conceived before the protests in Ukraine, after the director, Rowland Jobson went to Molodist International Film Festival, in Kyiv, to screen his last film. He won the award for best film and decided to stay a short time in Kyiv. Inspired Rowland returned again and again to Ukraine fascinated by the situation and contrast between the visual beauty and bleakness he found there. Most of all, he was stunned by the young peoples evident desire for freedom, real democracy, and chance to achieve their dreams. After having some strange dreams of his own whilst there Rowland wrote Sleeper - about a young woman's dreams, and her search for freedom and the boy she loves. A metaphor for the Ukrainian people's awakening.
A young woman with a sleeping sickness searches for freedom and the boy she loves in Kyiv. Surfing the subway at night she struggles to stay awake and find him. Was he just another dream, or was he stolen away like many protesters. As her strange dreams start to blur with reality we wonder if her dreams are leading to her destiny.

Risks and challenges
There are some risks of course to shooting in the Ukraine at present. However to mitigate these we have monitored the situation closely, been several times to Kiev and chosen good reliable partners.
The main risk is a possible return of the protests or unrest but it seems unlikely with the political dialogue other than in Crimea. Putin has said he does not want war and we think this is unlikely scenario at present. Putin seems more set on using stealth to 'protect' his interests. Permits maybe slowed a little due to administrative processes slowing down but we have allowed for that with some flexibility in our schedule.
The story and attention and truth of the situation will only grow stronger.
We have delivered in the past with large project for EE, Shelter, Rethink, CRUK and a film at Venice. The feature version of the project was recently also selected as a semi finalist for the HAF FOX award at HONG KONG FILM MARKET and for the BEIJING INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL PROJECT PITCHLearn about accountability on Kickstarter
