Strong enough to hold any equipment you throw at it.
The Stand Loop started with a single goal in mind-hold my sandbags on my light stands. Simple right? What was so perplexing to me was despite the standard sandbags having a good, uncomplicated design, rather than coming up with a way to hold them in place, a slew of new complicated and sometimes absurd products showed up on the market to replace them.
So a few years ago I created the first Stand Loop. It was simple and not at all polished, but it held my sandbag in place and kept my light stands standing! After more than a few requests from other photographers for the loops, I started creating a more polished version and added a few more features so the loops weren’t just a one trick pony.
Whether you are in studio or on location, Stand Loops will prove to be an invaluable addition to your gear.
Keeping gear safe and dry is essential - but being able to use almost anything to weight a stand is amazing! Here we used a log during this shoot and it worked great!
The loops will work on virtually any size light stand.
From the highest quality nylon strap, which has a weight capacity of over 1,200 lbs to the aircraft grade aluminum fasteners, quality became important after we noticed that sandbags were not the only thing these loops were being used for.
Although I love my clamps and use them regularly, I use the Stand Loops for almost 90% of what I use to use the clamps for. The Stand Loops are less than an ounce vs my clamps which are over a pound. I can easily pack as many Loops in my gear bag as I want without taking up valuable space or adding noticeable weight.
No matter what gear you need to secure or hang, you can be sure the Stand Loop can handle the weight. The Stand Loop’s aluminum hardware is rated to 100lbs and the mesh loop is rated up to 1,200lbs.
Compared to clamps, this is about as small and light weight as it can be,
This was a very happy discovery when we are on a location shoot and our backdrop stand system failed. Using our 10 foot stands, the Stand Loops worked perfectly to hang our backdrop.
Using a Standloop on our boom arm made controlling the strobe position much easier for our assistant.
Soft enough not to damage or scratch your stands or tripods.
Each kit was created to work with a light stand or tripod. Two loops and one carbiener hook are included with each kit.
We created this Kickstarter campaign not for the development of a prototype, but to be able to produce the loops on a larger scale and to offer them at a very reasonable price point. (Which as photographers you know is not something we are use to) We currently manufacture the loops with a very reliable and quality oriented manufacturer, but because we can only do small runs at a time and normally sell out before they even ship, we need your help.
We first promise that you will love how easy and useful these loops are in your everyday workflow and are sure they will never leave your stands. We are giving a 7 week ship date from the end of the campaign but honestly plan on beating that date by at least a week.
Risks and challenges
We partnered with two companies for the components of the Stand Loop. This product is currently in production and not waiting on any tooling or future developments. The main risk would only be delays in shipping but not delivery of the product.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
