FictionSphere is a technical platformer inspired by classics games from the early 90s. You'll find familiar mechanics from beat-em-ups, gallery shooters, and most noticeably platformers. You'll take on the protagonist Ratio, a wise-cracking hot-blooded youth with a persona that hides his resentment of the world. Wielding an infinite potential, learn new feats and beat your enemies to a pulp!
In the distant future, a new plague known as the Phanteria has become widespread. Transforming living beings into morbid abominations known as Phantasms, leaving only destruction in their wake.
The renowned city of Faeble, a scientific forefront, created the Apostoloid robots as a counter-measure to the Phantasm plague. Their main functions are to fight against Phantasms and seek out Excels. Excels are humans who can manifest and manage supernatural granted to them by infection; to aid in the fight and rebuild the shambles of humanity.
However, there are unfortunate souls who wander the vast remnants of a forgotten world. Many who can't manage their powers or those on the verge of turning into Phantasms are left to their own devices. As a result, these humans conglomerate on small settlements across the globe, constantly migrating; never truly knowing what tomorrow may hold.
Level-up and upgrade system
As you progress through the game, you'll gain experience points by defeating enemies and bosses. Each time you level up, a new ability will be available to purchase with in-game currency. Abilities have their own unique actions and can mix with other attacks!
Dynamic Combo System

Take aim and fight enemies and bosses in the background. You'll be met with enemies from all sides of the screen and be tested on your ability to multi-task! Link enemy kills together to gain extra rewards! You can switch in and out of Gallery Shooter mode at any time. Do you think you have what it takes to be the best sharp-shooter in town Lets find out!
Platforming & Exploration
A familiar mechanic that players will enjoy. Be ready to explore the maps to find secret areas, alternate paths and side-quest events!
Robots created with the purpose to destroy Phantasms and aid Excels in their fights. They are usually sent out on field missions to clear uninhabitable areas of enemies so Faeble may expand their borders. They have been ordered to save any humans who have the potential to manifest powers. If you happen to be a Phantasm and run into one, you're going to have a really bad day.
Dark creatures who prey on humans: they're attracted to Phanteria and feed upon unfortunate souls to mutate them into Phantasms. Only following the strongest among them, they often fight in groups and outnumber their enemies.
The origins of the Phantasms are unknown but their demonic, alien-like appearance strikes fear into the hearts of the weak.
A mysterious Phantasm who roams the night to hunt humans within the darkness. His exceptional speed makes running from him a futile struggle. Due to his half-man/half-horse appearance (as well as missing his head) he's been given the nickname of the "Headless Horseman" by lucky survivors.
Mei is one of Faeble City's gifted Excels who is renown for her phoenix-like powers. Being on her second reincarnation, Mei can harness the power of inferno and withstand extreme heat to the point of being able to treat lava as if it were a pool. Mei is part of the operation "Scorched earth", who's purpose is to release the earth's fury onto nearby settlements via an Astral Tech mining base.
Oberon is a man who admires and believes the Sun is the source of all of nature. Due to his admiration, he highly values his power to control solar energy and nature itself. Sent on the mission known as "Enlightened Expansion", Oberon seeks to find uninhabited areas to construct bases for Faeble's expansion. As he runs across outsider settlements, he invades and makes the settlers within work for him.
Vain to her frozen core, the Ice Queen is a fearsome Phantasm with the ability to create and manipulate ice. Even before she became a Phantasm, she enjoyed kidnapping young artists to create a collection for herself. After gaining her powers, her bizarre artistic impulses drove her to freeze a large area to turn into her personal frozen paradise. As she sits upon her cold throne, she will stop at nothing until the world is frozen into a visage of her design.
Frankenstein is an Excel with high intellect and peculiar looks. Is he a man or a monster? No one knows his true appearance as his magnetic abilities allow him to become encased within an armor of scrap metal. He is speculated to be responsible for abductions of humans and Phantasms alike northwest of Faeble. The only things left at the scenes are pieces of metal and debris scattered about.
Formerly a caretaker from a settlement near the desert, Ishara was known for her good looks and charming personality. Unfortunately, her role required a lot of exposure to Phanteria and lead her to transform into a Phantasm. Now, Ishara relishes on spreading the Phanteria infection as she thinks it will bring love and peace to the world. What better way to do that than to turn everyone into loyal phantasms?
Having been indoctrinated to become a warrior since birth, Tesgong is a loyal soldier of Faeble with a surprisingly short temper and electrical powers. After receiving fatal injuries in a fierce battle, he was reconstructed using the advanced technologies of Astral Tech. Reborn into a loyal machine of war, Tesgong will stop at nothing to achieve his missions, going to the extent of attacking indiscriminately to complete his orders.
Born from the corpse of a drowned civilian, Scylla is a gargantuan sea-monster who terrorizes the nearby ocean. Any ship or human unlucky enough to be found within her territory are never seen again. She causes problems for fishermen and trading routes (as both fish and ships flee from her presence) which makes it difficult to trade and provide food for settlers.

If you're the type to jam out when no one's watching, then this soundtrack is perfect for you! This physical soundtrack has all of FictionSphere's glorious music on one disk! This will contain some extra tracks, such as demos and unused content that may not have made in into the final game.

Nintendo Switch Port - 23,740

PS4/Xbone Port - 25,240
These were our second-most requested consoles to get FictionSphere on. The more ways to play FictionSphere, the better! (Please note that all additional Platform ports will come after the main game has been released.)
Gameplay voice acting - 27,240
Gameplay voice acting is a great way to give some of your favorite characters in FictionSphere a personality. We'll be adding voice clips to enemies and bosses and of course our main hero Ratio!
Boss Rush Mode - 27,500
Battle against all the bosses in a random order, without the hassle of progressing through all the levels! See how far you can get!
Retro Soundtrack Swap - 29,500
We'll include the option to swap the soundtrack to a retro one. We plan for an 8-bit soundtrack but might be aiming closer to the SNES direction! ALL soundtracks in the main game will be given a classic makeover to give the authentic retro feel!
Paradox Playable - 31,500
Paradox was a very popular character and we were sad that she wouldn't be able to be playable in FictionSphere. However, with this stretch goal, we'd be able to bring her into the game! She'll have her own play-style, as well as her own combo system and unique abilities. You'll be able to see her side of the story with unique dialogue!
Creating a video game is a very cost intensive and strenuous process. We've been working on FictionSphere with a non-existent budget and passion alone. However, this can only take us so far as many of us lead lives outside of indie development. We believe that Kickstarter is a great way to not only obtain funds to help create the rest of our game but also allow us to to hire additional talent to assist in FictionSphere's production.
We think that Kickstarter is also a way to involve everyone in our development process and allow you to see us and the game grow. Hopefully, we can also inspire other young developers to possibly create their own projects in the future!
Here is a basic overview of how the Kickstarter funds will be used:
Team leader/Creator, Concept artist, programmer, story writer
Aric Works primarily as the programmer and concept artist. Creating video games is engraved upon his soul! Learning how to program video games at a young age, he left school and his job to pursue his dreams and it all starts with this team! He looks forward to working with all of you in creating FictionSphere.

Writer and editor, provided aid in making corrections to the written sections of the KickStarter page.
Creator of the original base Frankenstein sprite (done by request).
Risks and challenges
Many of these risks may come from an underestimation for the budget that could cause a delay in the release of the game.
That being said, many of our team also have other jobs, outside of game development. When we come home from our day jobs, we hop on the computer and get straight to work before starting our days anew. We plan to deliver FictionSphere in a timely fashion, but the funds from this campaign will allow us to hire some additional help to assist the game's development.
While we will do everything in our power to prevent these issues from arising, they are all challenges that many indie teams may face during development.
Keeping that in mind, we reduced our original goal at the cost of cutting out some previously planned content. We did this in order to have a realistic goal in mind with the budget that we've set. We don't want to promise something that we can't deliver and would rather focus on the things that we know we can do.
Team Einherjar has been working on FictionSphere with a non-existent budget, which is why we may have periods of silence from time to time. We tend to release information about our progress in a bulk update to help maximize our time working on this project. With all of this in mind, we are dedicated to making FictionSphere a success and are looking forward to communicating with our backers to aid in the process of development.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
