Introducing Ohhio Braid. It's an innovative crafts material that's light, soft, and makes for a very chunky result. We offer DIY kits and READY MADE products too.
In our years of making hand-crafted decor, we met lots of people who wanted to learn how to do it themselves, but couldn't, because of the steep learning curve involved in making an Ohhio-style blanket. Well, no more.
With Braid, creating a chunky-knit blanket or throw is easier than ever. It's a manageable and versatile material that's easy to learn and fun to use for crafts lovers of any age.
We're a small Ukraine-based design studio.
At Ohhio (pronounced óh-yo), we make high-quality handmade merino wool knitwear and home decor in a signature chunky style. You might have seen us on Kickstarter before.
In the year since our last campaign, we developed a new crafts material that we call Braid. It started out as a search for a durable, lightweight material that is just as soft as merino wool. When we couldn't find any, we decided to make our own.
As soon as we created Braid, we wanted to share it with the world. Working with it is so much fun, and so easy, even a newbie crafter can do it. That's why we're offering Braid Balls for the same price as the throws and pet beds they make, along with instructional videos on how to craft with Braid.
Here is the full range of rewards we are offering this campaign:
Working with Braid is a blast, but DIY is not everyone's cup of tea. As a special treat for Kickstarter backers, we're offering handmade Braid mats, throws, and pet baskets free of charge — just pay for the Braid, and we'll handle the rest.
We have four colors for you to choose from: gray, dark gray, blue, and pink. Once the campaign is over, we will contact you with a survey where you can specify which Braid color you want.
How to make a Madium Braid Throw
Braid has two parts to it: the casing, and its filling. The outer shell is made of cotton, with some polyamide and elastane thrown in the mix to keep things pliable. Oh, and it's literally seamless. The filling is siliconized micro hollowfiber (the stuff they make pillows out of). It behaves well under all sorts of stress, including washing machines, dryers, and kitty claws.
The first Braid prototypes came about in March 2016. Since then, we experimented with different diameters, materials for the shell, stuffing materials, and filling density. Chaos ensued.
The current, and final, iteration of Braid has the optimal combination of a flexible cotton shell that stretches and bends without bunching up thanks to the elastane, and the softest siliconized micro hollowfiber filling that keeps it light, warm, and machine-washable. We're pretty proud of it.
We want to take Braid to a global level. For that, we're going to need to expand our little R&D workshop into a full-scale production. All that's stopping us is the need for additional equipment, and space.
Risks and challenges
We guarantee on-time delivery of high-quality product. Our first Kickstarter campaign had nearly overwhelming success, but we still delivered all rewards on time. We have a strong roadmap, and expect no problems in delivering products as promised.
Currently, we have the production means to start working on early bird rewards. When the campaign ends, we plan on using the funds to expand our production capacity, and manufacture the next set of rewards. Please see each individual reward for delivery dates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
