I am raising funds to publish issue 2 of ODM. I have paid out of pocket thus far for publishing 200 copies of issue 1 and business cards and prints as well as copyrighting the title. I (Marshall Loveless) have registered a business name for 3 AM Comics LLC using my own money as well with the intent on getting a business line of credit or loan to publish the second issue under. Well that didn't work, so now I am turning to kickstarter to fund the second issue.
Funds will go towards publishing the comic through Ka-Blam digital print-on-demand service. Ka-Blam did a great job with the first issue and they have a partner-site with Indyplanet.com so when I publish the issue can be purchased in the future as digital or print-on-demand copies.
T-shirts have been made using Reinforcements Designs based in Rensselaer, Indiana. The few I have made so far look awesome! So I will be looking forward to getting more made in the future.
Also, I plan to create a website for ODM that the great team at Maximumedia Design have agreed to help me put together. So any profit will go towards that end as well AFTER I pay my dues to the writer and letterer.
Risks and challenges
My biggest challenge is that I am limited by my mobility. Meaning I do not drive because of my disability. So I am constantly forced to make arrangements to go anywhere or do anything. The writer for ODM is a close and personal friend of mine so a lot of times we will do events together and then there is my wife who helps run me around as well. However, in this case, a lot of this can be simply mailed via postal carrier or in the way of the PDF files, via internet.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
