About this project
What is Valkyrie?
In 2050, the world is in chaos. Resources are drying up, military forces freely raid across international borders, and Valkyries, the most powerful war machines ever devised roaming across the battlefields on every continent.
Valkyrie is a fast-paced miniatures game for 1 or more players.
You’ll command a mix of giant Valkyries striding across the battlefield with your supporting elements of real-world military vehicles like M1 Abrams and T-80 tanks, Stryker and BTR-80 APCs, Infantry, and more. Each nation fields its own unique mix of Valkyries and conventional vehicles.
Valkyrie is designed by Dan Verssen Games, a leader in the strategy gaming world when it comes to designing solitaire and solitaire compatible games games such as: The Air Leader Series, Warfighter, and The Field Commander Series.
If you'd like to see more of what we've got planned, we've created a Valkyrie website filled with game information, artwork, and short stories for you to visit:
Valkyrie Plays Solitaire!
I've been asked by several people to mention the Euro-Friendly nature of our Kickstarter campaigns. I'm happy to do so, but I need to make clear the mailing process we use. We mail all international games using UPS's mail service. We deliver the games to UPS, and UPS delivers them to their hub in Europe. The games are then delivered to each country's postal system from that hub. Because of this system, we have not had any reports of people being charged VAT or other fees, but we cannot promise this. Sorry about all the disclaimers, I just want to make completely sure that people know that while this system has had great success in the past, we cannot guarantee it for all packages in the future.
2050 Began in 1980
I have been dreaming about designing a giant robot game since the early 1980's. Now, due to the invention of the internet and Kickstarter it is finally possible. Creating 3D models, production molds, and plastic pieces is incredibly expensive and far beyond my means. At long last, all this is now possible and I want to make the game worthy of my 25 year wait.

Thank you Bradley on the Facebook group for the idea of adding Terrain as a separate item! Awesome idea!
You can add these Terrain pieces to your Valkyrie map to have even more Terrain combinations. The Valkyrie map is designed to link together and have the edge hexes and roads flow from one map to the next to create monstrously big battles!
The map hexes are 2" across, and each Tri-Hex covers a group of 3 hexes. This makes these pieces great for miniature gaming and other games that use hex maps.
If you haven't pledged for an Add-On before, just manually adjust your pledge amount. After the Kickstarter ends, we'll launch a Pledge Manager, where you will pick the items for your order.
The Valkyrie Set Add-on is perfect for adding to your Valkyrie game or for simply having a set of these great looking miniatures!
The Support Forces Set Add-On gives you a full set 40 Vehicle and Infantry miniatures!
Everyone gets 2 free Tri-Hex Crater miniatures added to their order! Infantry and Valkyries can enter Craters, but Vehicles cannot. If you move a Force into a Crater, it gains the "Spotter-10" ability. Once each turn the Force can add 1 extra Attack die to any attack targeting an enemy Force within 10 hexes of the Crater.
Everyone gets 6 US and 6 Russian Federation Mounted Powered-Armor Rifle Squads added to their order! Place one of these miniatures in the hex with your Vehicle to show the Vehicle is Transporting your Infantry. When you Dismount the Infantry, swap out their Mounted miniature for a standard Infantry Combat miniature and get them into battle!
Hope to acquire the Kickstarter funding needed to not only produce the core Valkyrie game, but also the expansions for the other Factions, including: Japan, The European Union, and more. The overview for each Faction is on the Valkyrie website...
We also have many more type of Tri-Hex Terrain pieces designed. Through Stretch Goals and Add-Ons, we hope to be able to produce all of them to add to your battlefields. There is a listing of the new Terrain types on the Valkyrie website...
We run Kickstarter campaigns to provide funding for games that we cannot finance on our own. Once we publish a game, we sell them through the game industry's distribution and retail channels. This means retailer sales are a vital part of our business, so we do not offer Kickstarter exclusives as this would alienate many of our business partners.
However, to make the Kickstarter experience as valuable as possible for our supporters, we will add Stretch Goal items to the Kickstarter that you will receive for free as funding levels unlock. Those items will later be available for sale through retailers, or added to the game with an increased MSRP to pay for our added expenses.
This provides people with an incentive to pledge the Kickstarter campaign as well as not excluding people from obtaining the items once the game is published.
The shipping cost is listed with each Pledge Level. It is $20 for shipping within the continental US, and $40 outside the continental US. These costs will probably be less than our actual shipping costs due to the estimated size of the huge box: 18" x 12" x 5", but we want to make Valkyrie as affordable as possible for everyone.
Risks and challenges
Dan Verssen Games (DVG) has the knowledge and skills to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible. We have published dozens of games. If you have any questions or queries, the people at DVG will be here to assist you as quickly as we can. If you would like to see the quality of the games we publish, please visit our website:
With several Kickstarter campaigns behind us, we are able to professionally deal with setbacks while keeping you, the backer, informed with what's happening every step of the way - and not just while the campaign is running. When funding closes and production starts, we aim to provide the most up-to-date information possible regarding each stage of the game's journey to your tabletop.
We believe that honesty is as important as regular contact with our backers. You can expect the very best from us, no matter what. As part of our honesty pledge, please be aware that we do not offer refunds after a Kickstarter campaign closes. We need the funds to pay the printer and to purchase the add-ons and stretch goals people have earned during the campaign. If you pledge, and later change your mind, that's okay, but you need to cancel your pledge before the campaign ends.
By working with high quality production facilities that we've dealt with during previous campaigns, we are confident that we'll be able to deliver the game in a timely manner. Our exacting standards mean that you're guaranteed to get a great game.
