"Cocktail & Sons" is the brainchild of Max Messier - an award-winning bartender and spirits consultant currently based in New Orleans, LA. Over the course of six years, Max has produced a range of original and inventive syrups, cordials and tea concentrates for a variety of bars and restaurants in New York City, NY and New Orleans, LA.
With a successful track record of producing notable cocktail programs in high-profile bars and restaurants, Max decided to focus his culinary efforts towards revitalizing the forgotten relic of the concept called a "Home Bar" taught to him by his paternal grandparents during his halcyon days of youth behind their custom-built "wet" bar in their house. During his days "behind the stick" working in bars and restaurants, Max would always advise his bar patrons on how to build a proper Daiquiri or prepare a whiz-bang Old Fashioned in their home.
Max decided to pull out all of the recipes he had concocted over the years to produce a line of all-natural and handcrafted syrups designed for classic cocktails including Old Fashioned, Daiquiri, Mojito, Tom Collins, Margarita, Gimlet and new fangled modern cocktails. In addition, the syrups could be used as base components for refreshing sodas.
The syrups are designed with simplicity in mind. All you need to build your own Tom Collins or Old Fashioned is a measuring device such as a jigger, a bar spoon, fresh citrus, bitters, booze, ice and a glass. The syrups are ease of use for cocktail creations without a cocktail shaker. Your own Old Fashioned can be done up with a simple shake of bitters, ice, your favorite whiskey and healthy splash of "Cocktail & Sons' Spiced Demerara" syrup.
All of the syrups are produced with natural ingredients and real sugars - no additives, coloring agents or artificial additives - combined with original recipes concocted by Max plus tested and approved by his bartender brethren across the United States of America.
Spiced Demerara Syrup: The perfect solution to your Old Fashioned or Sazerac and a punch-up for your morning coffee.
Oleo Saccharum: Dress up your Gin or Vodka Collins and a French 75 plus build a floral and citrus soda.
Honeysuckle and Peppercorns: Give your Margarita or Whisky Sour a spiced kick or enjoy a succulent and spiced soda.
Mint and Lemon Verbena: Enhance your Daiquiri or Mojito with a minty herbal edge or serve up a lovely herbal soda.
In addition to the line of syrups, the "Cocktail & Sons" website will host a database of cocktail and soda recipes to enable everyone to explore and construct their own unique variations of imbibers and refreshing tipplers with the line of syrups.
Please help contribute to Max's dream of bringing his own line of unique and handcrafted syrups to your own "Home Bar" and cupboards across the USA and beyond.
Risks and challenges
After completion of the project and with the first steps of funding achieved, the next challenges arise in keeping up with production of syrups to meet an expected demand by the public and to develop an expansion of available items under the "Cocktail & Sons" banner.
In order to meet these expected challenges, Max has developed relationships with established food production companies in the greater New Orleans area to assist with production needs and an expansion of items will be represented by a core line of products with seasonal syrups. The seasonal syrups will be based on local farmers' items available on a monthly basis including muscadine grapes, berries, stone fruits and locally-grown herbs, flowers and vegetables.
A marketing plan has been drawn up with a grassroots sales and social media / guerilla marketing strategies with emphasis on a existing service industry networks across the USA and beyond to further expand awareness and accessibilities of "Cocktail & Sons" line of syrups.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
