We are getting many inquiries about streaming xbox, ps4 through GameBuddy to an Apple MAC computer. The short answer is doable.
The difficulty we, the GameBuddy team are facing is resource limitations. We keep getting valuable inputs on adding features and functions to GameBuddy. Most of these requests are really good and doable. We would love to implement all of them if we have unlimited resources. In reality, we have to prioritize them base on the demand level, in-house expertise availability, estimated engineering time required, availability of third party support and cost of development.
Back to MAC OS support, our original priority is not high. However, we are reconsidering this based on the number of requests we have received. As MAC OS support was not a high priority task, we have not built up a strong software team with MAC experience yet. Having said that, it won't prevent us offering software encoder and decoder for MAC by working with third party software developers. We can provide our codec library for them to integrate into their players and encoders. This approach is fastest but is more costly.
To sum up, if we can raise a good amount through Kickstarter, we can start working with third party developer earlier. There is a reasonable chance that we can support MAC OS software ahead of GameBuddy shipment. Otherwise, we may need to take the longer route of in-house development which will take a longer time.
