As we progress to a more technologically advanced society, it is vital to understand the world around us. Legendary astrophysicist Dr. Carl Sagan raises concern for this disconnect.
“We've arranged a global civilization in which most crucial elements profoundly depend on science and technology. We have also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces.”
Let's set up our new generation with the the tools they need to grow up with a better understanding of science and technology. The Technical Alphabet is a powerful tool to introduce young minds to the technology around them.
We're looking to raise funds to cover final illustrations, publishing, printing and fulfillment costs to boost The Technical Alphabet into production.
Learning begins with the ABCs. This is the time children formulate an understanding of everything around them. Research shows that children are able to absorb and understand up to 4 languages at once; there is no better time for them to learn new technological words and concepts.
Yet, somehow there is a notion that education of technology can only begin later on. The idea that STEM education comes later is incorrect. Understanding the world around us, invariably requires the understanding of the technology we use.
Can't stop asking, "How? What? Why?" Even your inner child is curious about how things work! A child's curiosity is boundless. They question things to understand it. Just as ABCs are our building blocks in literacy, technology is the basis of our modern world. Children absorb new words like sponges. They do not resist different words, they are curious about new terms. Yes, A stands for "apple" and B stands for "ball" but that's not all they stand for! Introducing children to new words like "axle" and "beam" will spur their curiosity and empower them with better and deeper understanding of technology
Let's get our kids “talking technical” early and empower them with the basic technical elements of our modern society.
In early 2012, we launched our “Early STEM" and “Junior STEM” robotics programs which engage young children with construction toys, introduce them to tech concepts, and foster their youthful creativity - all while fine tuning their motor skills.
In 2013, we introduced coloring sheets developed for our young students. As time passed, we started to organize our tech activity sheets by letters and slowly formulated The Technical Alphabet. In Spring 2014, we launched our high school robotics program on Kickstarter. The question of "what is available for younger students?" kept coming up. This response highlighted the importance of engaging young children in STEM as early as when they are learning to read.
Today, we would like to make The Technical Alphabet available to children everywhere. If funded, we will ship The Technical Alphabet in early December, just in time for the holidays!
To bring The Technical Alphabet to life, we need your support! We have finalized our technical terms, definitions, and what scenes are depicted on each page. We now need the assistance of talented artists and graphic designers to bring these images to life. Once we can fund the illustrations and graphic designs required, we are ready for publishing and production! We will self-publish to get our book on the market as fast as possible. We already identified 3 potential manufacturers to print our book. The minimum manufacturer's order is 1000 books. Help us reach this minimum number by pledging today!
We are an engineering sister duo passionate about inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders! Together we founded STEM Center USA to excite the next generation of STEM leaders. We run hands-on robotics programs to excite students about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education. We offer engaging programs at our "Robotics Creativity Center", in- and after-school classes at local schools, and seasonal camps. Our program is for K-16 students who work on cross-platform robotics integrating all the STEM fields. We started with just a few students and have grown to reach hundreds worldwide - and we hope this is just the beginning! Recently we ran a Kickstarter campaign for high school students (and up) for our Pi-Bot - a uniquely designed, affordable, and complete robot kit for anyone interested in building and programming robots.

Graphics: Please note that the images shown in the pictures and video depict our draft versions. Since we are continually improving our text and have yet to finalize illustrations, your book may contain images that are different from what is shown above.
Shipping: We are only able to estimate shipping times and the required timeline for production. While we have included US shipping in all of our pledges, we do have to add a small fee for international shopping.
