Tires, gearboxes, and shipping status!

To our Awesome Pi-Bot Supporters,

We hope you had a wonderful week! We just received all remaining gearboxes and tires!

We are on target to ship out STEM Boards on Monday and Pi-Bots later next week. We have run into one minor glitch. For our initial prototype before our Kickstarter campaign, we had manually soldered every motor connection. We re-designed this connection using a spade connector to increase the durability of connections as well as to increase packaging efficiency. Unfortunately, the connection was not as strong as we expected. So we are now going through the process of manually soldering each motor lead in our center (that is 4 connections x 1500 sets totaling 6000 solder points!). We have set up our assembly line of soldering to get these done and finalize our kits!

We want to make sure these connections are secured before they get to you. Thank you for your understanding and patience and we'll let you know as soon as they are ready to go!

Much love,

Lavanya and Melissa

Thank you all for your support!! We really appreciate your words. We spent the better half of today at our center and completed ~500 of the needed 1500 motors. Still a ways to go...but it's a decent start! Here is a picture of our Sunday assembly line that we had going: https://www.facebook.com/STEMCenterUSA/photos/a.646939395396260.1073741864.165762130180658/646939402062926/…

anxious to get the pi bot and start hacking. 6000 solder points is a big deal. Thank you for your dedication.

Soldering is best I have found. Anxious here.

That will be almost 40 hours of straight soldering.
I would have had my son solder his own. He is so looking forward to building a guard bot, and I am looking forward to getting him off the PS3.
