Hi, I'm Vince Riley, the artist of Native Drums. Welcome to the Kickstarter for our first collected volume!
Native Drums is a comic book that writer Chuck Paschall and I have been working on for a few years. We've been doing small print runs of the individual issues and selling them at local comic cons. As we hit issue 5 and the end of our first story arc, we thought it would be fun to try and print a collected volume.
We are well into issue 6, and have the next arc planned out. With your help, we can not only print the first 5 issues in one collection, but continue the story!
So what is Native Drums about?
It is set several years into the future. A genetically modified mercenary, known as Agent m17, is on a mission to restart an independent energy source in central Africa. Breaking protocol, she saves a young girl and is thrust into a power struggle between local warlords and her employers. Choices must be made in a world without borders, spinning out of control.
This collection is the first story arc of Native Drums titled Blind in the Shade. It will contain issues 1 through 5 and a bonus holiday story.
Here's is what others have said about Native Drums -
"The action pages are rife with kinetic energy as well, fully conveying to the reader the intense situations that Agent often finds herself in." -Omnicomics.com
"For that matter, the art quality is better than most of the mainstream big companies work (DC and Marvel, I'm looking in your direction), but this is my opinion. It is not purely manga, but you can see it is heavily influenced by Japanese style art." - waveyourgeekflag.com
"It’s important that the creative team succeeds in making you like M17, because the central conflict revolves around the question of whether goodness––as personified in her character––can ever triumph over the pragmatism available to the truly evil. You have to believe in her as your moral stand-in for the story to work––and you do!" - Andrew Weber

Vince Riley is a video game artist. By day, he has worked at Activision and Electronic Arts. By night, he is a very tired comic book artist. He grew up in a comic store on the east coast, and just loves the medium.
Chuck Paschall lives in the exciting world of Richmond Va. He creates great comics and fun games. His day job is traveling the east coast and midwest selling movie tshirts. If you've attended any comic cons in the past three years along the eastern seaboard, you've probably met him.
Risks and challenges
There are always risks in something like this, but we have worked to reduced them as much as possible.
The book is complete and ready for print. We would love to make some corrections before going to print, and add even more bonus material. This is an attainable target, and one that I think we can hit with ease.
There is always the potential of something going wrong with the printer. We have found a reputable print house, and have enough to cover the costs if the kickstarter succeeds.
Things can go wrong with shipping, but we have set aside time and funds to fulfill our shipping needs.
