The Printshop is a printmaking studio located at 3 McBeth St in Greenville, South Carolina and exists to foster artistic growth through community and education. The Printshop occupies 3500 sq. ft. of studio space, with equipment and facilities for etching, letterpress, silkscreen, lithography, relief, bookmaking, and more. We will offer memberships that allow 24/7 access to our studio and facilities, as well as day rates, classes, and workshops. There will be multiple exhibitions in our gallery space throughout the year and an artist-in-residence program in the near future. Our doors are officially open now, but we still need a few key items to make the shop complete—that's where you come in.
We have been working hard since December to make The Printshop a reality and we are very close to having all of the equipment we need to be a fully operational shop. We're about 90% there, but the main thing we're lacking is an exposure unit for silkscreen. With a large exposure unit, we won't need to send our screens across town to another shop to have them prepared and we'll be able to silkscreen on a very large scale. The price of the exposure unit is about $4,500 including the cost of shipping. We'll use the remainder of the funds for miscellaneous items for day-to-day operation in the shop.

Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges we face with our shop are minimal. We have the majority of the pieces in place and we're lacking in only a few areas. The biggest challenge will be ensuring timely delivery of the exposure unit from the manufacturer.
The other primary challenge will be maintaining enough members and filling enough classes to cover our costs. This challenge will not be difficult because our overhead costs are low. Secondary challenges will be keeping up with the demand for new classes and ensuring our users take care of our equipment and space in a responsible manner. We have a team of volunteers and contract teachers ready to go to help us meet these demands.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
