"My Heart" is a song I wrote about two years ago and The "My Heart" Music Video Project is all about creating a weird, fantasy world on screen where the song can live up to its full visual potential.
Above all, this is a collaborative piece that will be brought to life by artisans from around the Bay Area:
Beryl Baker - Singer-songwriter & Musician
Jonathan Potter - Cinematographer & Film Editor
Cari Turley - Director & Props Master
Alexandra Friedman - Set Design & Props Assistant
Maia "Papaya" Wiitala - Bassist
Justin Vanegas - Audio Engineer & Mixer
The Project began as a bunch of ideas in my head on "what if I could make a proper music video out of a proper recording of one of my proper songs." After mulling it over for too long, I finally recorded the song with my friend and producer, Justin Vanegas and lifelong music collaborator, Maia Papaya.
Since that recording Maia and I have taken it to different shows and received wonderful responses to its peppy, silly and catchy sound.
The next step came in the form of actually putting the fantasy down onto paper. With the help & ideas of my creative team, I created a storyboard and Jonathan attached it to the very same record version that Justin, Maia and I hacked out months before.
Now it's your turn to join in on the momentum of The "My Heart" Music Video Project:
We need to raise enough funds to pay for all the things that go into creating a piece of art like this. Your money will go directly to buying the foam board we need for our puppets, the wood that will keep our set standing during shoot, the green paint/paper we can use as a backdrop for animation and the fabric for our mini vaudeville theatre.
Please join us in this venture to create a fun, smart and quirky music video. All of us on the crew would very much appreciate whatever you can throw our way and in advance thank you for taking the time to help us out.
We promise--if you like fantasy, if you like ukulele, if you like magical old-fashioned theatre, it'll be worth every cent you give.
