About The Project
Thanks for checking us out! It is a privilege to be part of the Kickstarter community. Pembroke Circle is a micro-budget independent feature film that engages the serious social issue of human trafficking and sex slavery in the United States. It follows it follows a 14-year old's quest to save her sister from sex slavery. It’s a thriller-drama that will be accessible to a mature audience. It is being produced as a part of the University of Central Florida M.F.A. film program in Orlando, FL. The objective of the program is to direct a feature film with a budget of less than $50,000. We’re currently in pre-production with a close-to-final draft of the script. We’d love to have your support.
Our shoot dates are tentatively set for the June 2012. We’re trying to raise an initial $5,000 for legal and insurance fees. This is the first of five campaigns to raise entire production budget of the film. We’re really excited to make this film. It’s a relevant story that needs to be told.

It has been a year since Kathia’s sister, Mariela, disappeared with no contact, no leads and seemingly no hope of ever finding her. She continually blames herself for her sister’s disappearance as the feelings of despair set it. However, from a very unlikely person, she receives a clue about her sister’s whereabouts.
She steals money from her mother, runs away from home, and takes a taxi to a gated community. She hides out in a foreclosed home in the neighborhood, living off what the previous owners left behind, and the money that she has in her pocket. She begins to befriend the neighborhood kids on a seemingly normal, safe cul-de-sac, Pembroke Circle. The only information she has is that her sister was sold to man that lives on this street. She doesn’t have a name. She doesn’t have an address. Just, Pembroke Circle.
To find her sister, she must look beyond the surface and into the mind of sexual deviant, far more tormented and brutal than he appears. He keeps Mariela in a secret compartment, locked away in a garden tool shed unbeknownst to his family and the entire neighborhood that views him as an all-American family man.
In her journey, Kathia faces the ultimate evil, with only her cunning wit and the love for her sister at her side. Saving her sister from the physical confines is just the beginning; she must also save her from psychological turmoil of being a victim of human trafficking.
