C'est moi, Spike. Some of you know me because you attend my workshops. Some of you know me because I've performed your weddings. Some of you have heard me on KUT. Maybe you've read one of my books or more than one of my books. Maybe you've heard me talking really loud in a restaurant and wished I would shut up. Possibly you don't know me at all, though if you popped over to my FaceBook page it's entirely likely we have at least a few folks in common.
I've been writing since I was around 8, so that's, like, 40 years. I've had six books published traditionally (eight if you count the two textbooks, which I don't). I am just now finishing up my latest memoir-ish book, The Maine Event, which is about what happens when a couple of forty-somethings decide to take a trip together. Well, of course it's about much more than that. It's about life and death and flowers and romance and hate and war and peace and Boston Terriers. The list goes on. The most important thing for you to know is that reading this book will make your life more better than you could possibly imagine.
Which is why Rebound and I hope you'll kick in so I can print up a bunch of hard copies. I will release an e-version, soonish. But I do want to put a paper copy out into the world. Not because I hate trees. Just because I come from a time and place where books were magical. Hopefully they still are. Hopefully you'll show you believe in the magic by helping me make this book happen.
I wrestled for awhile trying to decide whether to go after an agent and publisher as I have in the past. And ultimately I decided to hell with that. I'd much rather get this book in the hands of 500 people who will appreciate it then court some big faceless folks in NYC. Crossing my fingers you'll want to be one of the LFH. (Lucky Five Hundred.)
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me with this little experiment. Rebound and I and the rest of the pack are super excited.
Risks and challenges
I'm supposed to share challenges here. Hmm... my biggest challenge these days is that the dogs outweigh me and are capable of pulling me down. Other than that, things are great, the book is written and I just need to tidy it up a bit before sending it to the printers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
