A Little Bit About Me
I'm Caren Barry (also known as Cranberry) - I'm a surface pattern designer, illustrator and maker passionate about creating intricate hand-drawn, hand-painted and hand-made designs.
I graduated with a degree in Decorative Arts from Nottingham Trent University in 2010 and for the last three years I have worked and saved hard so that I would be able to take the first step as a freelance designer. In April of 2013, I finally launched my own business doing what I love and embarked on my dream career as a freelance designer!
Inspired by my background and life in the Cambridgeshire countryside of England, I spend a great deal of time drawing, photographing and visiting some of my favourite places to gather inspiration.
With a love of patterns, flowers, hand-lettering (and tea!) I'm definitely at my happiest when creating and designing surface patterns in my home-studio - with a cup of tea in my favourite floral mug!
Designing and creating beautiful products with my original patterns and illustrations has been an aspiration of mine for so many years. I recently launched my new collection of designs with a range of cards and prints for sale in my Etsy shop - my first run of printed cushions are even in-the-making!
I also have several Christmas Craft Fairs booked for November and December - so everything soon starts to add up! These notebooks would definitely be a great addition to my collection.
By supporting this project you will have one of these brand new notebooks just in time for Christmas! All I'm asking you to do is kindly pledge a small donation towards my first collection of notebooks and jotters (don't worry, if you are unable to donate you can also help by sharing my project)!
The notebooks will be produced in A5 and A6 sizes, featuring 5 of my original floral designs. I am looking to get about 250 notebooks printed, so this will provide me with enough stock for upcoming craft fairs, as well as allowing me to sell through my online shops.
There will be 5 small (A6) notebook designs and 5 large (A5) notebook designs:
A6 measures 105mm x 148mm / 4.13" x 5.83" A5 measures 148mm x 210mm / 5.83 x 8.27"
The notebooks will be digitally printed on 300gsm paper with 36 plain text pages on 90gsm material. This will create either a 40 page A6 pocket-sized notebook or a 40 page A5 jotter notebook. Each notebook is stitched twice using staples for a strong finish. I also want these notebooks to be eco-friendly, so they will be printed on 100% recycled paper.
Once I start selling these notebooks through my Etsy shop, they will be sold individually as well as part of a matching set.
The notebooks will feature 5 of my original designs, in a collection of 5 floral patterns. The A6 notebooks will be printed with a smaller pattern repeat in the same design used on the A5 notebooks.
My patterns have been designed to work harmoniously together - so all the notebooks coordinate perfectly! Great if you can't pick a favourite pattern!

Risks and challenges
Of course with every project, there is always the possibility of being faced with challenges along the way. I have made every effort to ensure that this project will run as smoothly as possible.
I have already ordered samples of the paper I wish to use on the notebooks and I will also confirm proofs of the final designs before the full order is completed. I also have more than one printer and manufacturer in place, so should any setbacks arise I will still be able to complete this project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
