Mary Mattingly co-creates sculptural ecosystems in urban spaces. In 2014, Mattingly launched an artist/writer residency on the water called WetLand in Philadelphia. It was built on an old boat hull and resembles a sinking house. It is currently being utilized by the University of Pennsylvania's Environmental Humanities program at Bartrams Garden, the first botanical garden in the country.
