About

My friend Alan has always loved music. He taught himslef piano at an early age and has been playing for over 30 years. A few years ago he discovered accordions after attending the The Cotati Accordion Festival. (http://www.cotatifest.com/). He bought his daughter a small, child-sized accordion and has taught himslef to play it, but can only do so much on such a small instrument. At the same time, he developed a love for hideous Golf Pants (http://us.loudmouthgolf.com/). His dream is to combine the two by attending the Festival clad in his homemade "Louderhosen"(His sisters converted a pair of his golf pants into Lederhosen style shorts, complete with suspenders. They are atrocious), playing a real, big-boy accordion. He can already play "The Lonely Goatherd" from the Sound of Music! To that end,I am trying to raise money for Alan to buy a new accordion so he can realize his dream and maybe even someday, supplant the Great Morgani! http://thegreatmorgani.com/

The best thing about this is, if we pull it off, we will be able to entertain hundreds of people while at the same time humiliating our best friend!

Risks and challenges

The only challenges we can foresee are 1. Finding a decent accordion and 2. Getting playing time at the festival.
As for the first challenge, we have found what we think is the ultimate source for accordions in Oakland, CA, A small accordion shop run by a knowledgable man named Kimric Smythe: http://www.smythesaccordioncenter.com/
Because of him, we know that any decent accordion is going to run at least $1,000.
As for playing time, since Alan is relatively new, our plan is to stroll the festival as a minstrel would and to attend the "Lady-of-Spain-a-Ring" on Sunday
http://www.cotatifest.com/index.php/schedule-performers/2013-schedule-of-events/2013-sunday-schedule
With these performances, we can put together a Bio and the required performance videos to get Alan on stage in 2015!
