About this project
We've worked for others in Tulsa's fine dining arena for many years, adding various skills to our resumes, refining our palates, and building a devoted foodie following. We've hosted many SOCIAL events to connect with our fans and new friends and listened to our clients to successfully execute some of Tulsa's biggest parties and events. We've visited with you as you told us what you, as our guests, appreciate. We've taken all these ideas and come up with a new restaurant concept, SOCIAL food & drink.
"What does SOCIAL mean to you?" We get asked this question all of the time. We think it's ironic, because if you're in the hospitality business, you don't really mingle the same way that the rest of society does. When you're successful in your vision and your business is hopping, you watch your guests have a great time, and you have a wonderful time, too, even though you're on the clock. What we're proposing is the perfect restaurant, one that we would frequent time and again if we didn't just love our work so much.
SOCIAL food & drink is more than a restaurant with a great lounge and stellar private dining room. Built in the lobby of one of downtown Tulsa's famed art deco buildings, SOCIAL is a place that will allow you to re-energize during your lunch hour, a truly special place for you to meet your friends for happy hour, and a place to celebrate life's milestones. It's a place to trust in the Chef to amaze you, and connect with others who appreciate the finer things in life. You'll do all of this in an atmosphere that is grand in scale, refinement and decor but still comfortable, welcoming and familiar.
SOCIAL is more than us working and you visiting. It is a place that practices basic local values shared by you, your friends, and your neighbors. SOCIAL will focus on its business responsibilities, but also emphasize education, innovation and community, connecting all of us in its efforts. SOCIAL will be a business that challenges and encourages its staff to grow and learn by providing a teaching environment. We will introduce new techniques and ingredients to our staff and guests through invitation into our state of the art kitchen, sharing recipes and sources. We will support our local economy by purchasing from and promoting our local farmers, ranchers, and suppliers. We believe that SOCIAL will make a positive difference in our community simply through leading by example and participating in events supporting our local associations, organizations, and charities. We have collaborated with a local architect to draw SOCIAL's plans, and we have spent weeks narrowing construction costs to the dollar. Your Kickstarter funds will go toward our induction cooking suite and glass walls, and our loan from a local bank will cover the remaining equipment, glassware, china, and construction.
We chose to launch a KICKSTARTER project because our business isn't just called SOCIAL, it is meant to BE SOCIAL. It is your patronage that will make us successful, after all, so we wanted to include you from the start. Take a look at our rewards, posted on the right. Each is an opportunity for you to contribute to our launch and help us grow our local economy. There are many different experiences available, each one priced carefully to give you dollar for dollar value when we open. Which one sounds great to you? With the holidays just around the corner, don't forget those creative gifts for that person that is just so darned hard to buy for. We can guarantee nobody got one of these last year!
At the end of our project, we will use your pledged money to help pay for the modern kitchen's custom built cooking suite and the glass walls around it. With your help, diners can watch and learn from our chefs as their meals are prepared. We are so proud of our talented culinary staff, we want you to get to know them, we want them to know who they're cooking for, and bring the SOCIAL circle around to a close.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
KICKSTARTER is an all-or-nothing proposition. When we reach our fundraising goal, you get the great stuff listed and we get the financial support we need to build SOCIAL food & drink. If we don't reach our goal, you keep your money, but you don't get any great stuff. We can raise MORE than our target goal, so if you'd like more great stuff, keep pledging.
Risks and challenges
Over the last several months, we have met with many individuals who have agreed to privately invest in SOCIAL food & drink. These people come from varied backgrounds, but the thing they all have in common is the true appreciation of healthy, beautiful, delicious food and drink. We are humbled by their confidence in us.
We also met with a number of banks. Many loan officers were reluctant to help us, questioning the size of our project while our investors cheered us on. Finally, we met an officer at a local bank who said, "Yes, if you raise $______." (The blank represents a very big number.) We are very, very close to our goal, and more eager than ever to roll up our sleeves and get construction started. That's where you and your pledges come in.
We have a great staff who is eager to get to work doing what they do best, our loyal customers are buzzing with anticipation of Chef Marcus' creations, and our friendly vendors are awaiting our official opening. We are truly excited to have the opportunity to work in a restaurant that involves our whole community, and will keep you updated on our progress as we build. We can't wait to unveil the completed SOCIAL food & drink to you!
The restaurant business as a whole is risky, but we are confident in our combined 30 years of experience in fine dining. We've devoted our lives to making others happy with our food and service, and have gained the trust of a great local foodie following, as well as respect from our peers. We are certain that our collaboration, SOCIAL food & drink, will be around for a very long time.
