You may have heard the story behind the world famous guitar intro to Guns n´ Roses Sweet Child o´ Mine, and how Slash created it as a joke or finger exercise. As he told in interviews later on he was reluctant to keep it in the song. They ended up keeping it and Sweet Child ´o Mine went on the become one of their greatest hits and the intro one of the all time best guitar riffs.
What if they would have pulled it out of the mix?
Recording artists more often than not have tons of musical ideas they try out in the studio. Some of them makes it to the final mix but some are stashed away in a dark corner somewhere. How many hit making parts may have been ignored over the years?
Why not let the audience decide what makes a song great?
A lot of people aren´ t satisfied by passively consuming music. It´s far more fulfilling for to participate and do something creative with it. That´s why we see things like music mashups and banjo versions of metal songs on YouTube. :-)
With Soggl the listener can create and save their favourite version of the artists music by choosing their best music parts on each instrument, directly in their smartphone! It brings the great feeling of co-creating music to the people, even if you can´t play an instrument.
The app will also feature a Soggl Store for purchasing the songs and a Soggl Drive for storing your favorite song versions.
It´s a sweet deal for the artists since Soggl give them information about what guitar riffs, song melodies and basslines that sits well with the fans, and the artist can use them when releasing the song on record and in the streaming services.
We´re building a music service for co-creation with the artist that will launch in 2017. Wanna help co-create it? (That´s right, we practice what we preach:-)
The fun of being creative with music should be avaliable for everyone, that´s the biggest reason why I am doing this.

To create apps for iOS and Android with backend and distrubution we´re counting on initial costs of about 60 000 $.
Risks and challenges
Creating a music service like this is tricky in the copyright department. We are currently working on creating the proper contracts to cover up all possibilities and making our service a good one both for the listener and the artist.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
