Welcome to the campaign for the Gamer Girl & Vixen graphic novel! After introducing our comic to the world last year, we're here to bring their full adventure to life in a handy dandy trade paperback. You can scroll below to see all the details of the campaign, and we invite you to read the first chapter for free!
The money we raise will be used to produce a 100+ page, full color graphic novel starring Gamer Girl & Vixen, the cutest new comic book couple, who we're kind of hoping will take the world by storm (fingers crossed!). We're taking orders to finish the back half of the book and get them printed before the end of the year.
The goal of Gamer Girl & Vixen has always been to create a fun, enjoyable comic book story that just happens to star two LGBT women. Diversity in comics and entertainment has made some great strides in recent years, but there's still a long way to go. The best thing small, independent creators like us can do is to keep making stories where diversity is no big deal. It's just the way of the world, and that's what Gamer Girl & Vixen is all about. We hope you'll join our project.
The series is co-written by Kristi McDowell (A Planet’s Cry) and Sean Ian Mills (Henchman-4-Hire), with art and coloring by Gemma Moody (Valedictorian USA, Cooney), and lettering by Taylor Esposito (Ninjak, Constantine, New Suicide Squad). Bios below.
Gamer Girl & Vixen is suitable for almost all ages. It does contain some cussing and sexy times, but also a lot of adorable flirting and costumed hijinks. Like, a ton of hijinks.
Gamer Girl & Vixen is a story of love, lesbians and larceny. Liz Jaczynski and Bianca Crowley are two would-be super-crooks looking to paint the town red in a city-wide crime spree. But first comes crime, then comes sexy times, as the two quickly and excitedly fall head over heels for each other — too bad they're both already trapped in 'happy' relationships. This graphic novel will tell the story of how Gamer Girl and Vixen get into the burglary business together, while struggling not to fall too quickly in love.
Bianca has always known that she likes other women, but she forces herself to keep that a secret to appease her overbearing mother. It's only when she meets the out and proud Gamer Girl — who already has the kickass costume and nifty super powers — that Bianca finally finds the freedom to be herself.
And then they use that freedom to steal stuff!
In the first half of the book — which we successfully funded last summer — the girls meet cute on their college campus in New York City and decide to team up as costumed criminals. But they run into the superhero Jumpshot, who is determined to call foul on the crooks and send them to the bench.
In the new material, the girls begin planning the biggest caper of their fledgling criminal careers: burglarizing the Manhattan home of pop music superstar Bubb!egum! But business becomes personal when Liz and Bianca start spending more time together out of costume, and their fun flirtations give way to serious desire. Maybe they should have kept it casual?

And check what the critics are already saying about Gamer Girl & Vixen:
"It’s refreshing to see a world that has action and intrigue with a positive spin on female representation, the LGBT community, and villains!"
- Mia Faller, Word of the Nerd
"The characters in this comic come in all shapes and sizes and frequent a college campus, arguably one of the most eclectic communities a person can experience. Appropriately, none of these differences are pointed. They simply exist as such, and, as a reader of many comics that at best try to spread awareness in its obviousness, or at worst try to capitalize on it, it’s comforting to read a comic that simply is. Plus, it’s funny. And cute! It reads like an old Cartoon Network series: Fun and colorful art, with just the right dose of cynicism and self-awareness."
- Kay Honda, ComicsVerse
"Gemma Moody keeps her cartoony style, and it works well for the story they’re trying to tell...There’s a sexy vibe to her work, but it’s not adult or explicit, but rather a fun, old-school, pin-up kind of sexiness that doesn’t forget that falling in love is supposed to be fun and exciting."
- Jeremy Radick, NerdsUnchained
"There were a number of things I liked about this project that made me want to contribute, such as the cute and colorful art style that simply brings these characters to life, the humor written into the script, and the moments of trials and tribulations that help to cement the character into something deeper."
- Jamie Jeans, Brain Food

Like the financially responsible grown-ups that we are, we have the expenses already mapped out for where your pledges will go. First and foremost, we still need to produce the next three chapters of Gamer Girl & Vixen, and we are always sure to pay Gemma and Taylor for their hard work. This project would be nothing without them.
One of the biggest expenses is printing, because 100+ page graphic novels don't just grow on trees. We use Print Ninja and their overseas printing to save on costs. They did a great job for us the first time around. For the graphic novel, we're looking to print 750 copies. That should be enough to fulfill all of your pledges, as well as have enough leftover to bring to comic book conventions and get them on the shelves of your local comic book shops.
After production and printing comes shipping the project to all of you, and we've set aside a solid amount in the goal to cover all of those costs, both domestic and international.
We are fully prepared to meet these financial challenges, all of which we conquered in our first Kickstarter.
Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges are few and far between for the Gamer Girl & Vixen graphic novel. We've already proven that we can make a quality comic, so finishing the next three chapters of the book won't be a problem. We've given ourselves plenty of time to get the work done and get the books printed, and you'll hopefully have them by this winter.
