Be a part of supporting the artists of the Rebecca Rice Dance performance! Dancers are notoriously underpaid and under-represented in the arts in the United States. Help bring this concert to its full articulation by supporting the highly trained artists of dance and music so they can express this acclaimed work. Help provide support for these special dance artists. $2500 is the minimum fee requested and barely covers the artists costs. Please be generous if you can!

Rebecca Rice, the versatile and prolific choreographer from Boston, brings her dance company, Rebecca Rice Dance, to New York City to perform at the Merce Cunningham Theater, 55 Bethune Street, NYC, on Friday, June 17 at 9 PM and Saturday, June 18th at 8 PM. Tickets are $25 ($20 with prepay through www.eventbrite.com).
The program will include five works, two of which are premieres. The premieres include “Unmasked” (2011) a work danced to JS Bach concertos and sonatas, which expresses the bond between feelings of joy and sorrow as related in the poetry of Kahil Gibran, and “Verge” (2011), a solo focusing on the conflicts involved in transformation and performed by Mariah Steele to an original score by noted Boston composer, Christos Koulendros. Boston pianist, Constantine Finehouse, will accompany.
Revivals include the playful “Busy Blues” (2007), a creative romp to the blues music of Jonah Jones and Italian singer, Paolo Conte, the soulful “Bach Dances” (2004), including six movements performed to the Bach Cello Suites, and Stratas (2004), inspired by John Harbison’s “Suite for Solo Cello” (1994), an intricate, complex score by the Pulitzer-prize winning composer. Noted Boston Cellist, Sebastian Baverstam, will accompany “Bach Dances” and “Stratas”.
Composers include Christos Koulendros, John Harbison, JS Bach and Franz Schubert.
The concert will be designed by New York lighting designer Megan Byrne.Friday tickets here: http://rrdancejune17nyc.eventbrite.com/

Yes, you will be sent a letter of thank you and acknowledgement with your gifts.
How much of the payments will be going to the dancers and musicians, rather than the operating costs of the concert?
The reason for this kickstart program to make sure the dancers and musicians get paid what they deserve, and not just token fees of support.
